For a genre (thrash metal) that is so associated with one time period and sound and is hard to innovate within they manage to somehow pull it off here and on ITRN. It sounds completely fresh and at the same time like some lost 80s album you’d find in the back of a record store somewhere

Even if i like the thrash metal element of king gizz way more than the prog/jam elements sometimes you just gotta say fair play. Their best since Rats Nest beyond any shadow of a doubt

This has been my most anticipated record for a few years at this point, and with each passing year since 2018's Cocoa Sugar the excitement and hype has built slowly and boiled over dozens of times. Cocoa Sugar is the only album that has (briefly) dethroned Get to Heaven as my all-time favourite album, i could talk for hours with anyone about that record. I don't love that record, it is as much a part of me as my organs, the air that i breathe and the light that shines through my blinds every ... read more

someone on rym said it sounded like a terminally ill make-a-wish kid asked to make a psychedelic rock album and now that's all i can hear

I don't fully know what it is about the way this band mixes and produces their music, but it hits a center in my brain that genuinely makes listening to it feel the same as masturbating. absolutely unreal. I've gotten that in bursts with other music here and there but putting on the music of this band makes me act like the mom in the chicken carving scene in Eraserhead. Utterly unreal.

I love this band and have loved them since the first time Nibblonian Car exploded into my 16 year old ears.
11 years after their first album, this band finally goes fully meditative and ambient. Something that, while still being quite a left turn, isn't fully unexpected. especially after the more electronic and ambient bits "Music For Working Out".
My first impressions however is that i am more happy for them doing what they believe in and going all out on it.
Like i say, i have only ... read more

Nanopod - COLDEST EXIT LURCHER

If you’re only gonna listen to one EP that has a cover of Software Greatman and Rhythm of the Night, a euphoric alt rock lesbian grunge banger, an idm rager and a hard rock number that samples game grumps this year it should be this one

"Exactly the same here, its so hard to rate music like this cause at least for me its like, not at all bad but its not music i would listen to unless i was in a really specific mood, and then its really nice and comfortable, so i should rate it based on that, but also i dont necessarily need to or want to listen to it ??? very confusing ha"

"Haha it's cool. Yeah they're both good but Infest The Rats Nest is infinitely more replayable imo. The new tool album just sounds and feels like it would be awesome live but isn't really too exciting to listen to in the long run. I could be (and probably am) wrong though and who knows maybe i'll reeeeally like this over time"

"It may be a combination of things but most of all im just confused why this of all things is hailed as like a new masterpiece of sorts. With previous albums in the same genre that has gotten this kinda hype i have at least been able to see like yeah this is really special, no matter if i liked the album or not. With this one i don't think i would detect anything special if i went into it without knowing a lot of people loved this. Maybe it's a grower though, but as an album idk its ok"
