"Velvet Response" is a great example of that, it's a spacious song with that constant push of guitars, and then a huge ... read more
Another shoutout going to my friend Lagan, who makes music under Fellers Island. I've known Lagan for about 2 years at this point, and I have heard his last project (Vicennium) and I liked it. I was super excited for this album, as I only found out about it a day or so before release.
I gotta say though, space ambient may not totally be my favorite genre, or maybe I'm not into it yet. Every song here follows a common theme of slow-moving pleasant chords, which I ... read more
Now, I'm gonna use this psuedo-party to shoutout some of my friends who make music. This was from a friend who goes by ludwigdrums on Discord, and ZenmodeZenmode is his project.
From "amparixtechualure" alone, I could tell that this is a pretty ambient project, though I will check out more when I can. Many tracks on here are calming, with occasional loud noise parts (like "The stars twinkle in the night..."). This caught me so off guard during ... read more

The album is very... different from Madison. It's a more art punk / experimental piece, with Haley Dahl ... read more
TV Girl was the first ever band I saw in concert, during their French Exit anniversary. Even after their disappointing last album, I still like them. The show ran through the entirety of French Exit, plus “Not Allowed”, because of course they’re going to play their most popular.
However, Grapes Upon the Vine distances itself from the amazing indie pop Who Really Cares carried and now TV Girl goes into more of a… gospel sound? “Big ... read more
Okay, before the pandemic, my family used to go to Virginia Beach a lot. There would be some live music, and I liked one of the bands. I asked my dad for the album they were selling, and he bought it, that’s my first CD. That CD was Empty Walls by the Joe Gosman Band. They played a really good acoustic set, and I was a very excited little kid.
Unfortunately, I got home from the beach, popped the album into my dad’s old CD player, and found that the ... read more
