My 1500th Rating!! Thanks to everyone who’s stuck around through my years on this site, here’s to another 500 and so on!

What Made Chris Cornell Such a Generational Icon? [WC: 1225]

Chris Cornell is a treasure to both the Seattle grunge scene emerging in the 90s as well as rock and roll as an entirety extending into the modern day being one of the most under appreciated wonders in rock and roll. In a world where an equally gifted musician and pioneer for the grunge movement ... read more

Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We

Following a more electronic driven pop album that was her previous album, Laurel Hell in 2022, many fans left searching for something more; something with her traditional indie rock meets folky kind of sound.. and with The Land is Inhospitable, she absolutely did. As well as this, she even branches out to new degrees experimenting with a more orchestral style of song using gentle winter-like strings and piano melodies in the instrumentals as well as super echoey and grand vocals that sound like ... read more
Maruja - Knocknarea

Every decade of music seems to see a major rise of new artists coming from one distinct genre - new wave in the 80s, grunge in the 90s, a resurgence of pop music in the 2000s, trap rap in the 2010s, and now… post-punk becoming re-popularized due to the widely acclaimed Brixton Underground scene of bands like Black Midi, IDLES, Black Country, New Road, Squid, or Shame - just to name a few. With these new artists showing their very musically impressive sound to the world, a new act: Maruja ... read more
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is a more recent finding of mine with me seeming to enjoy their stuff more and more ever since one of my favorite albums of 2022 released, Omnium Gatherum. The band’s always managed to have this overall feeling of experimentalism and diveristy when it comes to the extremely unique sound of their music. However, it was anyone’s guess that the music act’s newest idea would be to go full 80s style thrash metal with a new album. The cover art ... read more
boygenius - the record

Boygenius; a collective of three of the most prolific female indie singers of the 2010s - Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus - seems to have had the quickest and most exponential rise to mainstream success in 2023. Though they may not have the streams to prove so; they’ve quickly become a sensation in the younger music fanbase with them touring alongside the current most popular singer in the world: Taylor Swift. Despite this correlation, they make sure not to cater to their ... read more
Sufjan Stevens - Javelin

I’m sure almost everyone familiar with the deeper music scene have a decent knowledge about Sufjan Stevens and the poetic folk music he made a name for himself for. Albums like Carrie and Lowell and Illinois had much critical as well as commercial success due to their ability to balance a Nick Drake style of folk music with his own personal touch to it. Throughout his musical career, singer Sufjan Stevens had kept an extremely restrictive public appearance rarely discussing his personal ... read more

Hello! My 900th review is out, and I usually don't like to self-promote my stuff, but I feel very passionate about this review, so I'd love it if you gave it a shot:

Hey Evan, I am once again an AOTY user asking for your time.

Self-promos aren’t something I usually feel comfortable doing, since if you’re not interested in what I’m promoting then I don’t really wanna make you watch something you don’t care about. And if that’s the case, feel free to just ignore me, I probably won’t ever do shoutbox promos again anyway lol. But I recently dropped Part 1 of my top 20 songs of 2023 and spent a TON of time on editing and stuff so I’m gonna self-indulge a little bit here. If you’ve got the time or it sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d love to know what you think of it! Thank you!

Hello there, Evan! Wanna partake in my new community list?
The topic this time will be a bit seasonal: coziest albums/songs! Imagine the perfect music for snuggling in the fluffiest blankie, sipping on some hot choccy milk while admiring the chill snowfall from the window outside.
Thanks in advance!
