Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city

Conceptual Analysis of SAMIDOT [WC: 3295]

Sing About Me, I’m Dying Of Thirst or SAMIDOT for short is the 12 minute long two part ballad by American hip-hop artist, Kendrick Lamar. Though it never reached the same commercial success of many of its predecessors on their shared 2012 album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, SAMIDOT was quick to receive serious acclaim by fans and critics alike. So much so, since its release, it has even become a track recognized in many music spheres as one of the ... read more

Dire Straits - Dire Straits

Sultans of Swing is one of the greatest rock songs of all time but besides that, this album is a whole lot of subpar to average material that goes in one ear and out the other. I think the power house of sultans of swing as well as the other favorite Down to the Waterline drastically inflate people’s ideas about the quality of this album
AJR - The Maybe Man

So many of these songs were so close to actually being really good and then they just end it by falling right back into their corny tropes they exemplified the most with their previous few albums which is what everyone hates about them. Whether that be the super high pitched raspy, almost purposely ironic high notes, the vocoder sections or the totally nonsensical instrumental elements. An example of this being something like a random switch-up from soft piano Melodies to these way too high ... read more

Juice WRLD’s Surprising Masterpiece [WC: 2095]

Juice WRLD is a young hip hop singer emerging to rapid success in the late 2010s due to his association to trap rap legends of the likes of Future and Young Thug. However, it was his music like the life changing hit song Lucid Dreams which helped turn this initial recognition into one of the most devout fanbases of any musician in history. Juice WRLD helped pioneer emo rap as a genre in the mainstream alongside the likes of XXXTENTACION and ... read more

Green Day’s back!
The American Dream Is Killing Me- Let’s just say I tried my best to love this but unfortunately left desiring something a little more…
There’s nothing bad about this, it’s a major step up from 2020’s atrocity with Father of All; however, Billy Joe Armstrong’s vocals still feel a bit at a lack here? This was my biggest turn off about the song, other than the off putting singing it seems like the band is coming back into form. The drums ... read more
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - The Silver Cord

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard’s The Silver Cord while having its apparent flaws here and there shows an apparent artistic ambition which could just make this album the gateway into something great in the future.
The album relies heavily on synth based production and psychedelia. Track 4, Chang’e; for example, sees the use of these fluttering synths rising up throughout to song to give this feeling of climax as well as establish a more futuristic atmosphere in the song, ... read more

Hi Evan,

At 400 followers, I wanted to end a series of community lists that I've compiled this year as a holy trinity of sorts. The last two lists focused on song lyrics (wild and sad). Currently, I wanted to look more on production values for the last one. With that being said, I wanted to ask you a simple question: What is the hardest hitting banger imaginable? (or your go-to banger?)

I thought the EP was solid, I think Voyager is probably my favorite track followed by Black Hole. I can kinda see them as B sides, but they’re still some good songs out of it. Usually the group’s harmonies are the main selling point for me. I wished Lucy had more of a role on that EP. She was probably my favorite member on The Record follow by Phoebe. I still need to listen to their self-titled EP. I’ve only heard Salt In The Wound. I didn’t know it was referred on Anti-Curse.

Appreciate it so much! Yeah that record was one of my safe havens when I first tested positive for COVID this year. Pretty heartfelt album. Also thank you for the follow!
