did Madonna really just Homogenic in this bitch 6 months after Bjork did !??!?!
i'm by no means calling this 'Homogenic lite' but the sound is pretty similar... but also different. Madonna's artsy electronic pop album 'Ray of Light' is a sweeping, mellow listen, that also intertwines a lot of downtempo and trip hop elements into it's cloudy web. the record is definitely not to be cast aside - it holds its own ever so strongly in the electronic-art-pop world ... read more
i’m still trying to get into MPB - and i think this album has done a lot to help me appreciate the genre. ‘Alucinação’ is a lot of what i hoped MPB could be when i first heard of the genre, it still stays true to it’s bossa nova roots but it embraces the folk rock that makes MPB what it is; on top of this though, it has some really interesting instrumentation sprinkled about the project too. Belchior’s vocal performance is a very consistently great ... read more
i can only aspire to one day look as cool as Gustavo looks on that cover.
‘Bocanada’ is as marvellously inventive as it is undeniably remarkable. drawing from his shoegaze and alt rock background with Soda Stereo, alongside electronic and pop influences, with downtempo, IDM-esque elements coming into play too on the back end - ‘Bocanada’ is Gustavo Cerati at his most daring and ambitious and boy does it pay off. this project is a mirage of sounds wound together with ... read more
a luscious pool of baroque pop - 'Titanic Rising' is a soothing caress of heavy-hearted melodies and undisguised songwriting.
this album is a beautiful and genuine showing of melancholy, with no real weak pointd at all. it's a consistently attention-retaining experience that keeps you embraced in its soft yet damaged arms.
this thing is not just an album but an experience. 'Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space' is an immersive journey of psychedalia, spacey rock, ambient and symphonies. it's a grandiose ride of swells and swoops that's worth embarking on again and again.
they weren’t kidding about ‘Sparkle’, that thing has CRACK in it.
but even aside from that killer opener - ‘For You’ is a City Pop nuclear bomb, it’s an explosion of boogylicious, groovy fun. you cannot help but love this record.
I for whatever reason thought almost definitely I’d like this record less than Vespertine, but the opener ‘Hunter’ showed me the potential of this album, and ‘Jóga’ all but confirmed that ‘Homogenic’ would put up a real fight.
arguably Björk’s most compelling vocal performance, ‘Homogenic’ is a wonderfully spellbinding listen, with a grander, bolder and a more twisting electronic sound in comparison to her other work. ... read more
87?? really??
the user score on this is 87 at the moment, putting it just inside the top 300 of all time. is this album good? yes. is it that good? i don’t see it.
there are albums in the top 20 that i don’t like - but i can kind of see how they got there. this? it feels like it’s here because it’s by peggy. it just seems weird to me, I’ve never seen an album rated this highly with the track ratings looking like this.

POV: Nick Cave loses his fucking mind for an hour and 15 minutes in front of a live audience
i don’t like it :(
former teen sensation salvia palth was a lot of people’s gateway into melancholic slowcore / slacker rock, but this new pop-ier direction really isn’f for me. I’m not going to pretend like their 2013 debut was my absolute favourite either but the older sound suits them better, in my opinion
it’s cute, it’s fuzzy, but it’s quite one-toned and just generally mediocre
I prefer the more noisy, busy opening tracks, but overall this craze-filled gothic experience was pretty enjoyable
Surf Rock and Pop Rock are not my thing by any means, and this record doesn’t particularly help that. The album draws heavily from The Velvet Underground alongside his pop rock predecessors from the 60s, but this was a *1992* release… it feels almost like a parody. And TVU is just, for a lack of better word - better. A lot better. I mean there’s an entire song on this album where he rides TVU for 3:27, he just talks about them while doing his best 60s pop rock impression. ... read more
a lot more blues and a lot less punk than ‘Elephant’ - I’m less of a fan
maybe i just don’t get it - but even sonically, ‘Tetsuo & Youth’ isn’t for me, the production is overly theatrical at times and despite not even being a decade old, some of the instrumental choices feel a little dated
Most people might know El-P from the infamous duo ‘Run The Jewels’, but what El-P has produced here stacks up to - and may even top his work with Killer Mike.
‘Fantastic Damage’ is a truly brilliant project; punchy, powerful and potent. A unique hip hop LP that was also more emotional and personal than i’d expected too. One of the best to ever do it.
