And then critics are gushing out of future nostalgia. This has to be the most consistent and fun Jessie Ware record and people are sleeping on it.
Thank you for making Basquiat as the album cover for such a cool record. Never have I imagined that The Strokes can still pull up something like this 'cause I'm more of a The Voidz fan right now. Maybe it is a good thing that Julian shifted towards making a new band to explore sounds. The past few Strokes record is such a bore for me (ehem Comedown Machine).
Cutting the record straight, this album is all I ever wanted for them to make. These tracks are filled with Phrazes for the Young era but ... read more
I mean this is great as a debut! This is worth celebrating. Considering the fact that she dropped her EP way back 2017 and just a few weak singles in 2018, at least we get the chance to get something fresh from radio friendly trap pop inspired music nowadays. Here we get some nostalgic 2000's music references with some of the best Clarence Clarity production. I'm a bit skeptical on some of her lyrics specially on "Chosen Family" specially mountains and stuff and all. However, I was ... read more
Some sultry R&B. Kind of lacking better production and the reverb is way too distracting. Got some potential though.
One of the few groups that I wanted to see what's coming next. I really enjoyed few of the tracks but I really hope they come up with some over the top performance and catchy as hell hooks like they used to. Nonetheless I look forward for what's to come.
This was actually pretty good. The absurdity was over the top, the sounds were all over the place and way too 'screamy'. Nonetheless, i loved it. It left me disgusted and also amused if that makes sense.
You always got something to say but these lyrics doesn't say so.
Edit: The Telegraph was trippin.
As a fan of both horror and experimental music, this one has to be the most engaging of both worlds. This is harrowing, claustrophobic and chaotic. This is what I expected Danny Brown would make after 'Atrocity Exhibition', yet clipping. delivered me one bloody hell of a ride. From murder to revolution, from the most catchiest hook to the most bizarre lyrics, this project will keep you on the edge. You won't even manage to notice the run time. I hope I get to see Xiu Xiu and clipping ... read more
Another PC Music inclined release this year (they are so hard working, please don't let them slip into your radar). I'm not sure why I don't really dig Chairlift but I have to admit their music is good but was never my preference. Having said that, after hearing 'Door', I was so excited to hear this record. None of the singles prior to the LP has disappointed me. So I was really looking forward on hearing this album.
I loved 'Charli' and 'Flamboyant', I think these two are the best PC music ... read more
I mean, I cannot blame people that didn't really care for this album for how absurd and raunchy this is. However, after seeing Brooke struggle from label to label just to release her debut album (5-6 years in the making), numerous singles from 2014 to 2019, I am still proud that she dug her way out of RCA and Sony. Finally, After meeting Sega Bodega she was able to release this nuts of an album. This isn't the type of music you can blast with because of how sexually aggressive this sounds, but ... read more
This is on par with Pop2 if we remove radio friendly tracks. Don't get me wrong and I can't blame Charli to put some of the tracks that are radio friendly because of her label issues. But I'm glad to hear more of her at her prime here. Experimental Charli will be the best Charli and I hope we'll get to that point soon enough.
