I actually agree with you. Somehow, I like other bands from the similar if not the same post-punk scene better such as The Murder Capital, Fontaines D.C. and Parquet Courts. Most likely, it is because Idles sound so fuzzy and messy (maybe that's their aim as their sound has an anarchist character). But I like clear sounds much more, where I can hear every riff, instrument and the vocal separately. Having said that, I love "I Dream Guillotine" much more than any song in "Joy as an Act of Resistance" as it has a clearer sound in my opinion even if it still sounds a bit deeper and more distorted compared to others.

But of course that does not change the fact that they have great songwriting and character. It makes me sad that I cannot enjoy Idles as much as I like to.
