I would love to see this dude actually try to go over the top. I think he would really excel at taking these lukewarm songs, and using his explosive personality to bring them somewhere besides the waste basket.

I personally didnt think this album was that bad, I dont mind YUNGBLUD's vocals, I liked the instrumentals, and if you get past the lyrics you can have some fun with this album, but I completely get what you're saying. For his image and what he's trying to put himself out as, an explosive balls-to-the-wall performance would work in his favour. This album is still worlds better than Mainstream sellout imo.

You should check out his previous album if you want over the top from him, that was one of my fave releases of 2020, really explosive stuff (although be warned, spotify glitched and there are 2 songs on the tracklist that aren't supposed to be there - Parents and Acting Like That lmao), he said with this new record the aim was to intentionally go for a more concise feel and style in contrast with the bombastic and wild nature of the previous album, since that was an album written in conjunction with fans sharing personal stories with him and him wanting to give them a voice through the songs, whereas this was him focusing exclusively on his own inner thoughts
