Mac Miller - Swimming

Mac's most compelling and transparent writing yet, a really brittle and vulnerable album that sees Mac reflect on fame, himself and the people around him in ways he never has before, whilst I appreciated and enjoyed the introspection/content of this album for the most part, unfortunately Mac has never sounded more unenthused & uninspired before in his whole career. Instrumentally this album is incredibly inoffensive and flaccid making this whole thing feel like a never ending slog, on top of that Mac barely performs with any conviction on these songs at all and there are serious improvements to be made too in regards to the pace & sound palette of this album in my opinion, the experience of listening to this was really sluggish and didn't do justice at all to how personal some of these cuts were, and his singing was dreadful all over this album as well. He stepped up lyrically quite a lot I think, but the musical execution is anything but exciting to me.
