it’s catchy and i like the production, but there’s definitely some problems with it. ty’s verse and hook were pretty solid. fka twigs was perfect for this beat but i have no idea why her part was so short, it’s easily the best part of the song. honestly kanye was the worst part of this song. his verse is weak as fuck. overall it’s pretty good

animal collective has been one of my favorite bands for a while now, and i was super excited to listen to this when they announced this, and personally i think it’s some of their best work in the last 10 years. the psychedelic and ambient sound of this album feels similar to their other work but at the same time it feels fresh and new. it can feel kinda drawn out at times, but other than that i really like this ep. this excites me for whatever they do next

not his best release, but still worth checking out. months after the release of his fantastic pray for paris album, westside gunn puts out a pretty decent project. it’s far more underground than pray for paris, with features from more underrated and underground artists like boldly james, stove good cooks, and armani caesar as opposed to the more mainstream features from artists like tyler and wale on pray for paris. the production is nice and compliments westside gunn pretty well, and ... read more

super disappointed. i thought meet the woo 2 was a very good album and i was expecting a great followup, but this just didn’t hit for me very often. before this album, pop smoke had a very distinct sound but most of this sounds boring and generic. the production is pretty weird at times, like the transition between the first and second track is really awkward, and the second half of this album is dominated by beats i wouldn’t picture pop smoke on in the first place. overall a big ... read more

yeah no.

this album is a mess. the best selection is some of the worst i’ve ever heard, there really wasn’t a single lyrical high point, and honestly, it’s just annoying. for an album that’s only 25 minutes long, it felt way longer than it actually was. it’s too repetitive to actually be fun. easily one of the hardest listens i’ve had all year.

FAVORITE TRACK: gross (i guess?)

this album has been growing on me recently. if this album was about half as long as it actually is, this album could have been one of drake’s best albums. there’s way too much filler on here but some of the tracks are actually great. the lauryn hill sample on nice for what is fantastic, summer games and jaded are two of drake’s best r&b style songs ever, and songs like nonstop and mob ties are some of the best trap bangers of the last few years. if songs like i’m ... read more

to start, i just wanna say how fantastic of a producer arca is. her last album was great, and her production on albums like yeezus and utopia prove how talented she is. this album also produced very well. the vocal performances throughout the album are also great, especially from björk on afterwards, but the production is where this album really shines. the influences of glitch, electronic, pop, and ambient that resulted in the sound of this album mesh together very well. the choice of ... read more

wait, i didn’t review this already?

this is literally my favorite album of 2020 so far. if i could make an album this is exactly how i would want it to sound. yves tumor isn’t an artist i was too familiar with before this album outside of a few song, but i’m so glad i decided to check this and the rest of their discography out. this album is perfect. there’s a blend of electronic and glam rock here, and the two styles mesh together perfectly. songs like kerosene and a ... read more

if this was released when it was recorded in 1975, i guarantee you that this would be considered a classic by now. easily one of my favorite albums of 2020 so far. also mexico is super short but it’s probably one of my favorite songs of the year so far

FAVORITE TRACKS: seperate ways, try, mexico, love is a rose, homegrown, white line, little wing

honestly i got super bored with this really quick. this was my introduction to braids, and i don’t really know what it was, but nothing about this album stood out to me. only a few standout tracks, but besides that there’s really not much there for me.

FAVORITE TRACKS: upheaval ii, ocean, note to self
LEAST FAVORITE TRACKS: here 4 u, young buck, eclipse (ashley), fear of men, snow angel

for someone about to hit 80 years old, bob dylan really dropped some of his best material in years. the first three songs were the main highlights, but overall it‘s pretty consistent. the songwriting is pretty good for the most part with a few lines here and there that i didn’t expect to hear (that anne frank line was kinda weird lmao). this album is a very good addition to an already great discography.

there isn’t a bad neptunes song. i genuinely think this album is near perfect. pharrell and chad don’t miss at all, and the features on here are perfect for showing what the neptunes are capable of. they could do radio hits like frontin or good girl, hip hop bangers like blaze of glory or put em up, and even pop rock songs like half steering or fuck n spend. the neptunes are the most versatile producers we’ve seen in recent times, and this album shows that off in a very ... read more

how was this album not recorded within the last week? everything said on this album perfectly captures the current state that america is in. everything from sex workers to police brutality is talked about in this album, and it’s all very enjoyable to listen to, i mean the “i can’t breathe” line on walking in the snow literally made my jaw drop. immaculate performances from everyone involved, lyrically outstanding by both miller mike and el-p, amazing el-p production, and ... read more

her worst album. i mean it’s nice to hear her doing dance pop again, but it’s not very good for the most part. the transitions are kinda awkward at times, especially during sine from above. the guest appearances aren’t anything special. almost every track on this album sound kinda the same, and it gets kinda repetitive and boring very quickly. the singles besides sour candy are almost the only highlights here for me. overall it’s just not very enjoyable for me. i just ... read more
