Tyler, The Creator - Goblin

Coming back to Goblin now has shown me how poorly this album has aged. And after hearing how good his production was on Flower Boy and IGOR, this album becomes even worse in comparison. Because on many spots on this album, the production is terrible. That’s not to say there isn’t any good production, because there are many moments that show glimpses of what he would later perfect, but it’s just clear that he has improved significantly and was not on the same level back then. And while I do like this album more than I originally did, this is still his worst album and just feels like shock value in album form. There are many songs on here that are just forgettable or pointless. With that being said, there are some amazing tracks on here, as Yonkers and She are amongst his best tracks ever. Overall, this album showed potential (which was ultimately reached), but unfortunately this album is a long, forgettable experience filled with many lyrics just for shock value.
