REVISITING KENDRICK LAMAR’S DISCOGRAPHY #1
Kendrick Lamar is one of my favorite artists ever. So with his new album coming on Friday, I decided to go back and revisit his discography this week. So let’s start with Section 80:
While Section 80 is flawed and is my least favorite Kendrick album, it’s still really good and an a impressive debut that shows a lot of potential that would be capitalized on later projects. There are some really great highlights here like “Hol’ Up”, “ADHD”, “Ronald Reagan Era”, “Keisha’s Song”, Rigamortus”, and of course “HiiiPower”. However, some of my least favorite Kendrick songs are also on here, such as “No Make Up” and “Tammy’s Song”. But even these songs aren’t terrible, which shows how impressive Kendrick is as an artist. So regardless of whether this album sounds a little dated sometimes, it’s still a very good listen that lays the groundwork for the rest of his career.
