Spilligion

Spilligion is an album that surprised me, but in the best way possible.

I was pretty excited for this, as I love JID and Earthgang, but this was completely not what I expected. But in some ways, I think I like it more. In fact, as of now it’s one of my favorite albums of the year.

I definitely expected harder tracks, but the mellow and chill tracks go over way better than expected. At first I thought they weren’t great, but as I’ve listened more the catchiness and simplicity of the melodies and hooks have really stood out. I also think the lyricism, production, and songwriting are better than the typical album in this lane. It’s not the best album of the year, but it somehow manages to be something completely different than what I expected and still surpass my expectations.
