*insert meme about her ass on the cover here*
Lorde’s return single isn’t her best song or anything, and I definitely don’t expect it to blow people away like her best tracks have, but it’s still a great summer song and an unexpected but nice change of pace that I can see myself playing a lot.
I haven’t explored Lorde’s discography as much as I should have, but I have heard many of her singles and have thought they were all great. I just have never gotten around to listening to her full projects, but that will change in the lead-up to her next project, because this is really really good. I love the summery vibe of the song, and some of the lyrics like the “prettier Jesus” line give this song a real personality that I love. This song also is reminding me of Daddy’s Home by St. Vincent (in a good way), and since they’re both produced by Jack Antanoff that makes sense. Apparently this song also has background vocals from Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo, which is really cool as well. While this single isn’t necessarily blowing me away or anything, I’m really interested in seeing what the rest of her upcoming project will sound like.
