For a project of freestyles and unreleased songs “from thee archives”, this is actually pretty enjoyable.
For what it is, Something For Thee Hotties is pretty impressive. The production on here isn’t amazing, but it’s high energy and hard-hitting throughout, and Megan comes through with some solid performances over it. No, she’s not like blowing me away or anything, but for this lane she just has so much presence, personality, and energy that she really stands ... read more
I know this is like painfully obvious, but this new Ed Sheeran album is not very good.
Ed Sheeran, the ginger fellow that made my least favorite song ever “Shape of You”, has released his new album and of course its boring. I mean, I wasn’t expecting anything else, as I generally dislike his music and I disliked the singles for this, but with Ed Sheeran being as big as he is I felt obligated to listen before I prejudged it. And while it isn’t as terrible as I thought ... read more
Lana has done it again.
I was a little worried with how soon this was going to be released after “Chemtrails Over The Country Club”, and with how I didn’t necessarily love the singles upon their release, but this really delivers and surpassed all of my expectations. This album isn’t necessarily anything new for Lana Del Rey, but it once again is a beautiful record with some of her best songwriting and vocal performances to date. It does kinda blend together after a ... read more
While Punk is a flawed album that is a little too long and can sometimes be a little too inconsistent, there are just so many things I like about it and there are so many highlights for me that it makes up for it. I also really like the approach Young Thug took here and I think the result is really enjoyable, even if a little messy and inconsistent.
This is just such a sweet listen.
I had never heard of Pinkpantheress until this project was announced, but I really liked the single I heard and immediately looked up who she was. I saw she was popular on TikTok, and while I’m usually not a fan of “TikTok Music”, I was very hopeful for this. And I’m very happy with the outcome. The songs are all really catchy and bubbly, and I really like the drum n bass vibe here. It’s short and doesn’t overstay it’s ... read more
Coldplay makes some decent pop music here, and there are some really great highlights, but it overall just doesn’t really captivate me in the way I think it could.
I can't wait for this to be overplayed to death.
Well it might not be the Peppa Pig collab, but it is another great piano ballad from Adele. Easy On Me just has such a timeless feel to it, and I feel like I've heard it a million times before. Now maybe this is because its nothing groundbreaking for Adele and is very similar to what she's done before, but it's her first song in years and it's not like she has been saturating the market with her music recently, so I don't have a problem with it. ... read more
Friends That Break Your Heart is another beautiful album from James Blake that has some fantastic production, great songwriting and vocal performances from James Blake, and some really solid features.
Life Of A Don is definitely a little bit disappointing considering just how much I liked his last record and how much potential I think he has, but I still really enjoy it nonetheless. I just wish he went a little further with it, as it feels too similar to what he’s made before.
Ever since his stellar feature on Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD, I have been very excited for Don Toliver’s career. Since then, he has been one of my favorite new voices in trap, as he has a voice and ... read more
Lil Nas X is a star.
Not only is this a great pop rap album with some fantastic highlights, but it’s such a monumental and important moment and I’m so happy for Lil Nas X. He has proven himself to be more than a meme and a one-hit wonder, and has fully cemented himself in the music industry and it’s amazing to see.
Lil Nas X has had a great past few years, and I’ve been ridiculously excited for his debut album. Aside from his music, I think he’s one of the ... read more
While I do enjoy a lot of aspects of this album, and I do think it’s decent, it’s just not executed as well as it could be and ends up being kinda forgettable as a result.
Coming into this album, I had seen people say great things about her music, and I watched her win the Grammy for Album Of The Year, but I had never actually heard any of Kacey Musgraves’s music before. So while I wasn’t expecting this to be my favorite album of the year or anything, my expectations ... read more
The Melodic Blue is an incredibly flawed album, but I find Baby Keem and the music on here to be so entertaining, catchy, and personality-filled that it mostly makes up for it.
Baby Keem, Kendrick Lamar’s cousin, has been an artist I’ve been excited about for a while now. I really enjoyed his “DIE FOR MY BITCH” project, and I’ve liked a lot of his singles since. A few of them were pretty one dimensional however, and I felt that they showed some limitations ... read more
“Said that you a lesbian, girl me too, ayy” - Aubrey Drake Graham
Certified Lover Boy somehow manages to be 1 hour and 27 minutes of Drake’s most boring, lazy, and least interesting music ever. And unlike his other albums, there are like virtually no highlights that I can see myself going back to that make this listening experience any better.
I’m not like a big Drake fan or anything, but even in his lesser projects I usually find some enjoyment in them. But on ... read more
It’s so cool to see an album this universally loved and appreciated, and it’s definitely well deserved for Little Simz because this album is absolutely fantastic.
On “Sometimes I Might Be Introvert”, Little Simz comes through with one of the most cinematic and grand rap albums I’ve ever heard with some great performances from Simz and some insane production. No joke, the production on here is some of the best I’ve ever heard. It’s sometimes grand and ... read more
While I have never really been a Halsey fan, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power has surprised me and is a really good change of pace that feels like the beginning of a new direction for Halsey and their artistry.
Coming into this I had only heard one full project from Halsey, which was the underwhelming “Manic”, but I had heard many of her popular songs over the years and just have never really been impressed with her music. But when they announced this album and I saw that Trent ... read more
This is actually pretty decent and enjoyable, but Belly just leaves so much to be desired as a rapper that this ends up being kinda carried by the production and the features.
The Weeknd is one of my favorite artists, but the artists signed to his label just don’t really impress me and I wish I liked them more. Belly doesn’t impress me, Black Atlass hasn’t impressed me all that much, and NAV is…NAV. The only artist on XO that I really liked was 88GLAM, and now they ... read more
Donda is a mess of an album with many flaws, and in many ways it feels less like of a cohesive album and more like a compilation, but the many great highlights and features mostly make up for these flaws and help make this a pretty great listening experience regardless.
