"That's what the mask is, that's what the point of the mask is". How can you guys hate on this when this song features such profound lyricism???
For real though, this song is obviously terrible. I don't really know all that much about Dream, but from what I can tell from this song, he must actually take this seriously. It sounds like he thinks that this is great and really profound and deep, and that's what makes it even worse. Because it isn't the worst song in the world, but it's ... read more
I’m a dumb idiot who was initially wrong about this album...it has grown on me with every listen. Also I can’t stop playing John L and Slow please help.
At first I thought that Cavalcade was just an album that I appreciated more than I necessarily connected with and loved, but wow was I wrong. The more I listen to this the more I start to love it.
I had seen a lot of praise for Black Midi, but this was my first time actually listening to anything from them. I saw the absolutely ... read more
Exodus has some flaws, but overall it is a very solid posthumous album with a lot of highlights and some great features and production.
Before his tragic death, I had obviously heard of DMX and knew some of his classic tracks, but I hadn’t really listened to his discography or anything. After his death I was going to, but I saw that this was coming soon and decided that this should be my first full album. I was worried about it being a posthumous album though, as other than a few ... read more
While the production on this is great and I really like the vibe and aesthetic of the album, unfortunately that’s about it for me.
I want to like Bladee. I really do. It isn’t fun for me to be the guy who just isn’t getting it. But once again a new Drain Gang album comes out and I’m just not feeling it as much as many other people are, even if I think this is the best one I’ve heard from Bladee.
I have tried in the past to love Drain Gang. In the past I’ve ... read more
As far as three song EP’s go, this is a short but solid little EP to hold fans over until their next full length project.
I first heard of 88GLAM in 2017 when they were signed to The Weeknd’s XO label and released their debut project “88GLAM”. I really like that record, and I think they did a really good job of crafting catchy melodic trap songs on that project. And while their follow up “88GLAM2” wasn’t as great, it still was a very enjoyable project ... read more
It took me some time and some more listens, but Daddy’s Home is definitely one of my favorite albums of the year.
I had seen many people talk about St. Vincent, but this album was the first time I ever listened to her music. I wasn’t really sure what to expect, and while it didn’t immediately connect with me, I’m glad I continued to return to this, as this album has grown on me with every listen. This album is incredibly well-executed and nails the 70s sound that it is ... read more
I can't stand Tik-Tok in general, but one thing that I particularly hate is this new trend of Tik-Tok stars making mediocre pop music. Some notable examples would be Addison Rae and Dixie, both of which have released some god awful singles that I despise. So how about this new single from Dixie? Is it as terrible?
Well, it's not terrible, but it's also not a good song either. The song is basic and generic and the lyrics are atrocious, but I can't deny that the chorus is pretty catchy and that ... read more
I didn't know who this was, and I still don't, but apparently Bella Poarch is from Tik-Tok and is another Tik-Tok star making pop music now. Because of this, I was expecting another garbage song that is unlistenable, and while this song is definitely not all that good, I guess I'm just pleasantly surprised because this isn't as terrible as Addison Rae's "Obsessed" single or any of Dixie's songs. Don't get me wrong; this is still not that good of a song or anything, but at least it's ... read more
If you told me when Lil Baby's "My Turn" album came out that I would actually think Lil Baby has been one of the most consistent rappers of 2021 so far, I would have laughed at you.
Lil Baby has really stepped it up. His features have been great, his solo songs have gotten much better, and the song is another example of this. The production from Just Blaze is fantastic and Lil Baby does a good job over it. It's not amazing, but it's just really solid and has me actually really ... read more
Shoutout to Mach-Hommy for one of my favorite one-liners of the year: “Shot him two times like Moderna”. That had me dying lmao.
I had seen Mach-Hommy’s name a few times before, but I hadn’t really heard of him until this album, and this album is the first project I’ve heard from him. And while I don’t think it’s amazing, it’s definitely an impressive album. The production is great and maybe the standout, and Mach-Hommy comes through with some ... read more
I'm pleasantly surprised. I did not think I was going to enjoy this, and while I definitely don’t love it, Scaled and Icy is just a fun listen with some solid yet flawed songs.
The only music I had heard from Twenty One Pilots were their big singles, and none of them ever blew me away or anything. But I decided to listen to this, and maybe it’s because I went in with no expectations, but I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Now don’t get me wrong: this album ... read more
This is a solid song and I do like the hyper pop direction that it goes in, but I don’t think it reaches the level of her previous single “Girlfriend” and isn’t as good as I think it could be.
It’s not my favorite single that I’ve heard from this album, but it’s still a great song and I’m sure Jubilee is going to be one of my favorite albums of the year
Not as good as “Be Sweet” in my opinion, but still a great song. It’s definitely a lot different, and much darker, but it’s still really well executed and still has me excited for the upcoming album.
This is one of my favorite songs of the year.
I love like everything about this song. The production is great, the songwriting is too, and don’t even get me started on the FUCKING CHORUS. I had never heard of Japanese Breakfast before this song, but this song has me ridiculously excited for her upcoming album.
I mean, is it a shock to anyone that this OPN & Rosalia collab is great? Please Rosalia give us a new album and please have OPN be heavily involved.
"a liquid breakfast" is a project filled with potential, and Audrey Nuna is a name you're going to be seeing a lot in the coming years.
I had heard of Audrey Nuna before listening to this, but I hadn't actually heard any of her music. But I'm glad I did, because while this project isn't amazing, the potential displayed is insane and there are some truly great highlights. Songs like "Comic Sans" and "damn Right" are great bangers with fantastic production. Audrey ... read more
Edit: over a year later and it has continued to grow on me even more. 80 to 85.
SOUR has some obvious flaws, but Olivia Rodrigo’s debut ends up being really enjoyable and promising regardless. I’m impressed.
Olivia Rodrigo is certainly having a moment right now. And while I wasn’t the biggest Driver’s License fan, I definitely wasn’t one of its biggest haters either. I didn’t love that song, and I still don’t, but I do think it’s pretty ... read more
Edit: This song has grown on me. This is definitely one of Lil Nas X’s best written songs. Really liking how personal and introspective it is, and it makes up for it being a little bland sonically. 75 to an 80
I think this is a nice song and I definitely like it, but it’s just underwhelming and kinda bland compared to Montero and some of the unreleased snippets I’ve heard from him.
I have been super excited for Lil Nas X’s album, and there are multiple snippets that he ... read more
Another single that I do like and think isn’t bad, but it’s just too long and isn’t all that captivating. The drums in the second half also do not sound very good at all.
