El Dorado may not be what I hoped it could be, but even as is, it’s a very solid melodic trap album that shows a lot of potential.
I’m a sucker for some good catchy and poppy melodic trap cuts, and the last few singles 24KGOLDN released were pretty quality tracks in this lane. The most popular, and the best of the three, was “Mood” featuring Iann Dior, which was one of the catchiest songs of last year. But I also really enjoyed “Coco” featuring DaBaby and ... read more
I JUST WATCHED DANNY BROWN COME OUT OF JOBA'S MOUTH WHAT IN THE FUCK I LOVE THIS! THIS WAS WORTH THE WAIT LETS GOOOOOOOO
In all seriousness, this is exactly what I wanted from Brockhampton. I was worried that with some of the mainstream success Sugar had and with all of the new fans, they would sacrifice doing something exciting to do something that would have mainstream appeal. But this single goes in the complete opposite direction.
This is some grimey and hard rap shit with a crazy ass ... read more
This is a perfect example of a non-musician with a following trying to make generic pop music because it's easy, profitable and their fans will eat it up. This is not being made for the love of music. This is truly the “business” aspect of the music business that aggravates me the most.
This trend of Youtubers/TikTokers making music isn’t even a new phenomenon. It’s just the modern day version of how back in the day every Disney Channel star was forced to make music ... read more
I love memey and weird shit like this lol.
Not only is this project ridiculously funny, it also sounds good lol. The production is actually really solid and I like the blend of hyperpop, metal, trap and even drill on here. Lil Mariko also comes through with some hilarious verses filled with personality. Yeah, it’s not something I’m gonna play all that much and is pretty one-note and a novelty, but it’s just a good time and is ridiculously fun. But even while this project is ... read more
This album isn’t perfect and has some moments that I don’t think completely work, but it’s an impressive and soulful album that displays Jon Batiste's insane talent and potential not only as a musician but as an artist.
Before listening to this, I had heard and seen Jon Batiste play before, mainly because he is the musical director on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and because he helped create the score for the Pixar movie “Soul”. I was intrigued to listen to ... read more
While I do like this, I think this song is like the definition of trying too hard to make something you think people want. Coming from Justin Bieber, it just comes off as super inauthentic to me, even if it’s pretty solid.
The instrumental on this is great, as are Giveon and Daniel Caesar, and it’s mainly because of them that I do enjoy this song. While Bieber’s hook is solid and catchy, some of the lyrics are just cringe af. Like cmon Justin, you saying “bad ass ... read more
While this is just a live version he put on streaming services of an unreleased song, I’m shocked that this not getting more attention. Because this is great and the full studio version of this song has so much potential
I love Roddy Ricch. His album was one of my favorites of 2019 and I think he’s a refreshing and more unique voice in the world of melodic trap. I think he’s just really talented and I’m glad he’s been getting the attention and the accolades ... read more
White Dress is such a great opening track.
I think the most obvious and stand out thing about this song are the vocals. The vocals immediately grabbed me, even on first listen when I wasn’t a huge fan of the tune. As I’ve listened more, I’ve come to absolutely love the song and everything about it though, as I think it’s definitely one of the best songs on the album and has the potential to be one of my favorite Lana songs ever. I can definitely see this song growing on ... read more
Edit: this grew on me a ton. 75 to a 90.
Original review:
While I agree this is very good, I’m just not seeing how this song has as high a user score as it does. Glad you guys are enjoying it that much though.
I’ve never been a fan of Quadeca’s music, but this has impressed me. The production is truly best part, as I think it’s grand, detailed, and sounds fantastic. You could really tell a lot of time went into the production. Also, some of the synths in the background ... read more
Honestly what the fuck was Fat Joe’s verse lmao. This man really compared himself to Harvey Weinstein and said a cringe ass “Wuhan Virus” bar. But at least this project overall is pretty fire.
Griselda has been one of the most exciting things in hip-hop for me lately. Benny and Conway released two of my favorite rap projects of last year, and Burden of Proof is probably my favorite Griselda release to date. When I saw this was coming out with Harry Fraud I was excited, but I ... read more
It isn’t great, but at least it isn’t a bunch of Yummys. Also, why was MLK Interlude’s transition to the Dominic Fike track so awkward lmao
While I probably liked Changes more than most, I still didn’t like it all that much: I just didn’t hate it and thought the guitar driven songs at the end were pretty solid and saved the album from being terrible. But what I didn’t like about that album were the generic pop-trap tracks that felt so derivative and ... read more
I had heard a decent amount of Lana Del Rey’s music before, but Norman Fucking Rockwell was the first and only full Lana Del Rey album I had listened to before this. I never really disliked Lana’s music, but I didn’t necessarily love it either. But that album surprised me. I do really like that album and I think it has some of the best writing I’ve heard from Lana. So after an interesting few years for her with some questionable public statements, I was hoping this album ... read more
Edit: grew even more. 80 to an 85.
I did not enjoy this song on first listen, but this has grown on me tremendously.
I really really like this song. There is a definite Carti vibe I get from the production and the aesthetic of the track, especially on the second half of the song, but I think Kenny Mason puts his own spin on it that keeps it interesting. The production on both parts is pretty good, and Kenny Mason’s flows and refrains are really catchy. It’s an interesting choice ... read more
From what I’ve heard from NF, I haven’t really been impressed or found anything he does all that interesting. And while this is still kinda corny and not great, I guess I don’t dislike it all that much and am somewhat impressed.
The beat on here was pretty cool. Even though the trap beat was kinda basic, it had an epic vibe that I think elevated the song quite a bit. I like the energy from NF, but he’s probably the weakest thing about this song, as his lyrics were still ... read more
What is happening to me?
I can’t stop listening to this song. I’ve had it on repeat for days. I even went back to listen to Estelle’s American Boy and I don’t think I’ll ever hear it the same. I love this song. I love everything about this song. I can’t even listen to music that isn’t this song because it doesn’t live up to how good this is. I don’t know what to do. I haven’t played Fortnite in years but I’m seriously thinking ... read more
I’ve never been a big Rich Brian fan, and this single honestly didn’t do much to change that.
I’m not sure why exactly his music doesn’t connect with me, but it usually feels like it’s missing something. And on “Sydney”, this is still the case for me. The beat was cool, but it wasn’t amazing and Rich Brian’s flows on top of it didn’t really stand out to me. The hook also wasn’t great and felt a little underwritten. The song ... read more
Well this was certainly not what I expected. What a strange group of artists for this sound.
If you told me before listening that this new track from KSI with Polo G and Yungblud would be a disco track, I would have laughed, and I certainly would have thought it would be a mess. And while it isn’t all that great, it is decent and better than expected. The production, while basic and one-note, isn’t terrible, and the hook is pretty catchy. I think I enjoyed this more than if it was ... read more
One of the weirdest and out of nowhere collaborations in a while but I’m here for it.
I definitely like this version more than the original. I prefer what they did with the production, as I think it does fit Dominic Fike, but it also doesn’t sound too far from something Paul would be on. I think Dominic Fike sounds really good on here as well, and it hits the right balance between a Dominic Fike song and a Paul McCartney song. I didn’t really like McCartney 3, and I ... read more
Chika has been somebody I’ve been really excited to hear a new project from. Her debut “Industry Games” was pretty enjoyable, her song “U Should” was in my favorite of 2020, she was one of the better artists on last year’s XXL class, and she is nominated for Best New Artist at this Sunday’s Grammys. Her career is going up and I thought her next project could elevate her even more. And while this technically is a new project, it’s very similar to ... read more
This Friday has been ASS for music.
I was starting to feel like I was liking too many singles and not being harsh enough, and right when I started thinking that, this Friday came through with some TERRIBLE music.
This is legitimately one of the worst things I’ve ever heard. Period. What the FUCK are these vocals? What the FUCK is this beat? Who the FUCK mixed this and said “Yeah, this sounds great?”. I usually can find something redeeming in music, but I’m struggling ... read more
