A significant strength of the band's earlier albums---"twenty one pilots" and "Vessel"---came from the open, general conversation of mental health and the associated struggle. "Blurryface" makes much less of an effort to extend its sentiment, keeping major points of songs vague and obviously personal. Hints of the band's typical concepts are peppered throughout songs, but are ultimately drowned out by overenthusiastic EDM (?) that's alarming enough to completely distract you. Tyler has undoubtable skill when it comes to communicating exactly what he's feeling almost flawlessly. As long as you take the time to listen and read the lyrics, the emotion and intention just hits you, even though it's laced through metaphor. The visuals are vivid, the sense of helplessness is strikingly genuine, and the openness of it all is incredibly impressive.
