This new Converge single is pretty good, I would say. Converge knows how to make a dense and broody yet addictive instrumental, and it shows in this track. Here, all the instruments are in great harmony, from the thumping drums to the powerful bass, topped with an overall good performance by Jacob. I wish this song had gone somewhere different, though.
Doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, do-doom, do-do-do-do-do-do-doo-do-doom

I appreciate it a bit more now. Yeah, that's it.

Happy 2026, everybody! I'm a bit late, but still.
Axe to Fall is heavy and aggressive at times, while sludgey and hypnotic at other times. But most importantly, it's pretty damn good. It fixes many of the problems I had with Jane Doe. The mixing is better as it's not as flat, it makes the bass come alive, and it ... read more

[REVIEW]
To Be Kind is quite a unique album, in my opinion. Through its compositions, this record builds tension with infectious grooves and hypnotic build-up sections, and breaks it with visceral noise rock sections in a cycle of continuous tension building and breaking, all topped with Michael Gira's impeccable vocal performance. All of this, from the groovy Screen Shot to the cathartic To Be Kind, creates a haunting and ... read more
Come scusa? Non ho capito. Ah, ok
Jazz per la gente che pensa che il piscio sta nelle palle
This was a pretty interesting listen, I would say.
Cons first. Personally, this album is too long and repetitive, two things I wouldn't want a record to be. Additionally, the songs lack strong payoffs, which is something that heightens the "drag" of this LP. This would've been better if it were like 20 minutes shorter. Ok, now to the pros. I really like the fun atmosphere of this album, which is built on instrumentals that are honestly amazing.
Overall, I enjoyed this ... read more
Memphis May Fire used Octanecore slop
It's super effective!
Memphis May Fire is a band I was already familiar with, thanks to Remade in Misery, a record that, despite its structural repetitiveness, I thought was perfectly serviceable. Ok, now take that album, but make the vocals more overdone, make it more sonically repetitive, add even more generic verses, and, after all of that, throw everything inside a creative void and mix. Congrats, you just made Shapeshifter!
Now, I think this ... read more
Getting ki- AHHHHH! OH MY FUCKING GOD! SOMEBODY'S KILLING MEEE!! *Explodes*
Yeah, uhm... I like this album. Yeah
It's an improvement from the first season's, but it's still quite forgettable and has some stinky stinkers. Not rating this because idk what score I should give. Oh, the season itself? Yeah, about that...
[EDIT, May 9th 2026]
Album: 95 --> 90
Change of score induced by modifications to my rating system. The album did not grow off me

Track 11 grew on me. The album grew off me because I started noticing some redundancy within it, but in my opinion, it's still a fantastic record.

Ok, It grew on me. This is pretty damn cool

Awesome stuff
Loudness war go brrr. Aside from that, this is pretty much classic Converge. Not really for me, but not unbearable either. Instrumental is, of course, fire, though.
Well, I guess it's time to review this. Shogun has been one of my favorite albums of all time since I first listened to it. The instrumentation, the songwriting, and the vocals are all fanntastic in my opinion. This album manages to blend Melodic Metalcore, Thrash and Prog metal while still sounding pretty accessible. This is pretty much the album that made it clear they weren't a Metallica ripoff. I honestly have no words, but what I will say is that, with its dynamic ... read more
How does this not have 100k more ratings? Why isn't this considered the best album of all time? Why is sea Creekflow?
So many questions, right? Well, don't worry, this EP answers all of the questions that were and weren't ever asked, including "What's the meaning of life?", of which the answer is to never stop drinking oil
