This version of Heathens is timeless and no one is going to convince me otherwise 🤭✨

IM TIRED OF BEING EMBARRASSED OF LIKING THIS BAND
*hides every top t-shirt into every crevace imaginable*
After a few irresistible replays of the album, I can confidently say this record is almost completely full of insanely catchy songs. The melody structure for Hayley's choruses and verses are so addicting, let alone her vocals in general.
Taylor and Zac are really showing what they're capable of on this album, too. Zac's drum playing are some of my favorite aspects of, 'The News' and 'Liar'. While Taylor's playing on 'Crave' and 'Figure 8' were both phenomenal.
Definitely a highlight of 2023!
The production is so clean and crisp on just about every track.
A lot of 2010 Electro/synthpop vibes from songs like Good Ones and Lightning, that fit so snuggly within the tracklist.
so fun and cute hehe uwu
imma make u mai baby
Keeping consistent with his Indie, Bedroom-Pop style, Cavetown brings out an unexpecting amount of sound experimentation from the very start of the record. Although these creative soundscapes are a surprising welcome, most lyrics on this album are so simplified and straight-forward. Without much catchiness within their melodies to stay intrigued.
Some questionable collaboration decisions on 'a kind thing to do,' with Vic Fuentes coming out of nowhere to start screaming in your ears within, what ... read more
Finally, I can say I like them without shame... BUT JUST THIS ALBUM HAHAHA RIGHT EVERYONE??? HAHAHAH
although this feels like a return to Joji's simpler style, during In Tongues and BALLADS 1, most songs leave you wanting more. With too many fade outs, and not enough verses, almost every track feels unfinished and rushed conceptually.
tiktok trends: the album!
seriously though charlie i think you might need a good month or two off the app
most of my appreciation toward this album goes to the sound production and almost-catchy melodies. but the unoriginality of each track, the confusing/questioning/concerning lyricism, and sometimes hard-to-bare vocal performances took away from those two good aspects.
a lot of interesting ideas and concepts, but most come off as awkward or unpolished.
i wanted to like the album, but some of the executions of these ideas come off a bit too harsh for my small normie baby ears
