As a whole it is a bit bloated but there are some fire R&B tracks on this project. DISC 2 has some solid rap tracks on it. As already mentioned it feels like theres some fillers that just did not need to be there.
I am sorry I just love this music. Also Saint Pablo might be one of my favourite tracks of all-time.
Some of the sounds I was hearing on here were so amazing. At one point it feels like and engine starting and growling in the background. And it is important to note that it FEELS like that it does not just sound like that it actually feels like that amazing. The overall collecting of sound was very new and refreshing for me personally. I think this is one of the better dance records out there. The fact that is very short makes it very appealing to listen to again and again. This is also good ... read more
I got this in my Youtube reccomendations and I am very glad I gave it a try. The instrumentalization is very beatiful and fits the vocals well. The whole album is very moody and either can get you into this mood or feel really powerful when your in that mood already. I can not really describe what I mean by that but you should give it a try it has a runntime of 28:57 so it is worth checking out for sure
070 Shake may excell as a feature artist but here solo work is really worth checking out. This album has a unique sound and feels very grandios at times. I also like listening to it while working out (some of the tracks at least). This album combines a lot of genres, which may appear to some as uncoordinated but I really like it because the soundscape is so full and at times even unexpected. I must say "Into Your Garden" had the potential to be the best track but I did not really like ... read more
DJ GRANT got me to listent to this project. I love you DJ G. This album has a very good sound but what really sets it apart is the lyricisim. The deeply personal topics and themes in addition to knowing the backstory of this album. The fact that is partner had cancer (she is now thankfully cancer free) and that he stated that he began making this album for her but then realilzed it was form himself aswell as a sort of discraction aswell as a coping mechanism. These facts really make this first ... read more
His best project artistically and conceptually imo. The closing track "4 Your Eyez Only" ist truly heartwrenching and just a great showing of well made story telling in Hip-Hop. For me he only outshines the rapping on this project on "The Off-Season" and only comes close to creating an atmosphere as great as this on "2014 FHD". Amazing project can not wait to go back for another listen.
It is a fun summer album. I agree that it is not the greatest that house music has to offer however I think people underappreciate it. A song like "Flight's Booked" for example is just very groovy and well done "Jimmy Cooks" has a good 21Savage feature and decent rapping. The rest of the album is more like background music for a day at the beach or something. I get that a full concsiouce listen isn´t great for this album.
Whilst there are some tracks that are pleasant to listen to, the whole album feels rather bloated and full of fillers. I think this would profit from a shorter tracklist. It is just not appealing to go back to this project at all. Sure you can add one or two tracks to your playlist but that is about it.
It is a great album I have nothing much to say but I really want to appreciate the way it closes. One of the best tracks on the whole project "Mathematics" as the last real track, it is hard hitting and very well composed truly one of the best rap perfomances of all time. The production ties it together really well. To put a fully instrumental track as the outro is such a nice choice, it gives the listeners time to think about the album whilst remaining in the feeling of the previous ... read more
To me this is his best work. Might change though For Emma, Forever Ago is great.
Had a fun listen of this album in the car. It was foggy outside and I felt this in addition the to landscape added something to this album for me. Overall surely an underrated album that deserves more attention. It feels very cohesive and well thought out, some songs are just good though and not great. Solid Album 💿.
How do I get to NYC? More specifically to 66 Greene St Soho!
I love how the estate treated this posthumous release. This is actually good music and it is great that is now out there. RIP Mac Miller.
