The Murder Capital is a five person post-punk band based out of Dublin, Ireland. Their debut record 'When I Have Fears' was released in 2019 to widespread critical acclaim (and has a really strong critic score of 84).
I think post-punk is usually a genre I have to try a little harder to get into, rather than other mainstream sounds that are a little easier to digest. However, I'm having no issues here with 'Gigi's Recovery'. The writing is sharp and the basslines are heavy. The back half of this record starting with the song The Lie Becomes The Self is where I really started to see the full vision of this band. This album continues to feels heavier and more pungent as it goes on, and it's a wonderful feeling.
