Car Seat Headrest - Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror)

(2011) Wow. They really did it this time around, they have achieved a work that feels like it was the best they could. For one, this instrumentation is better than what we have heard from the group, it's layered, it sticks with you, it's just grand. The song structures and the actual structure of the album itself is their most cohesive yet and their most focused yet; it doesn't feel like a mess with useless tracks. Will's vocals have more melody and sometimes his verses and choruses are catchy. Probably the largest step-up for this album is the lyrical content. The lyrics are personal, emotional, genuine, relatable, and chock full of witty references that I have probably missed about all of them. This album just had me invested and engaged throughout with it's great story telling, relatable lyrics, and interesting sounds. (I also review the 2018 'Twin Fantasy', check it out.)
