On my first listen of this album, it felt like Zach Hill was basically just getting himself off on the drum kit with cameo appearances of Joanna Newsom’s harp and weird noises in between. What a legendary album for all the wrong reasons. The vocalist doing their best King Diamond impression and the band completely forsaking their punk roots and going full hair metal. It’s obvious why this was maligned at the time but it’s actually not a bad (if a bit corny) heavy metal album, although nothing spectacular.

Can’t say how much I overlooked this album when I first listened to it, due its steady, midtempo pace. This is epic, old-school crust that will drag you along on a slow march to oblivion.
