It was time for BLACKPINK to switch up their sound and they sort of did it by sampling traditional korean instruments and putting them over a more modern beat. The end product feels somewhat experimental at some point, and we can see how they're carefully getting closer to the hyperpop world.
This chorus isn't as hard-hitting as many other of the group's chorus but is different and it the end comes of just as impactful and brings a touch of fun to the track.
I have to admit that i still feel a lack of sound and like if an instrument with more mid range frequency like a synth was missing to give more texture and depths to the song, I guess the vocals are supposed to do that job but still just adding a synth even subtle would fill that void.
Or they could have added some rock guitar in the 2nd half of the song or for the last chorus, mostly as Rosé is seen playing one in some shots in the 2nd half of the MV.
On this one, each of them member are sticking to their role, Jisoo and Rosé only doing singing parts in the pre-choruses and bridge, and Jennie and Lisa handling the rap verses. The vocal performance from Jisoo and Rosé is really really good, and well with the amazing and unique voice they have, it can only be! And those raps!! Both Jennie and Lisa are giving main slayer vibes. And fuck it main rapper Kim Jennie is back to teach these 4th/5th gen (gg & bg) so called main rapper, what's a killer rap verse done right (twice)!
It seems some people will never say any good thing about the pinks' music even when there's an improvement and I wish y'all would just give it a rest and stfu if it's not to say something constructive (even negative) about it. In exchange I will rate this higher than I originally intended to (when I barely even rate any singles in the first place).
