HAIM's previous work has always been very lukewarm glitsy pop but this new batch of tracks differ from the previous tracks a lot. Their new project is full of enjoyable bops that even the most picky pop connoisseurs can't deny.
Killer Mike and El-P are back with another batch of politically re-enforced bangers. The chemistry here is proven once again to be unmatched in the Hip-Hop game. Between El-P's excellent production and Killer Mike's cold verses the two are unstoppable. Another almost flawless addition to their discography proves once again that RTJ is essential.
Charli announced she was working on an upcoming album mid-April on a Zoom conference and a little over 30 days later it arrived. For how long this took to make the album is surprisingly cohesive and thorough with fantastic production by Dylan Brady of the 100 gecs on the track Claws. The opener “Pink Diamond” starts the album off with a banger and has stuck with me since the first play through. Overall it’s a really fun and thoughtful album for Charli as she keeps innovating ... read more
I would've called this album was underwhelming if it wasn't for Drake's previous catalog of album. Once again Aubrey drops a collection of bland and bloated tracks that probably didn't need to be released.
Edit: Really haven't gone back to this one much.
The timing of the release of this album is quite possibly, perfect. COVID-19 is at it's peak, and about a month into quarantine, during the time this album came out and people have been cooped up in their homes with cabin fever. This album is very claustrophobic and chaotic at times. But all of it adds to perfect writing and excellent instrumentals that feel fresh and unlike anything that has been put out in a very long time. Once again Fiona ... read more
I enjoyed "Baby On Baby" alot during the release of that album and I still do. When Baby released "KIRK" I was a little disappointed and thought the album fell flat a bit on Baby's hooks but still was able to enjoy the album. So going into this I was cautiously excited to see what Baby has to offer. Man was i disappointed with this release. Honestly as I was 5 tracks into my first listen to this album, i already knew what I was going to say about it. Baby's hooks weren't ... read more
Dua Lipa's second full length album was met with praise that for the most part was well deserved. Her new record boasts 80's era synths with modern era sounds and they mix pretty much perfectly. Her writing on the album isn't anything new but boasts positive messages about female empowerment. Overall the album is bop city and is potentially the album of the summer.
The Weeknd has finally dropped his new R&B LP, and man was the hype around this for me was huge. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the teasers going into this album and it did not disappoint. It is a huge step in the right direction from the very inconsistent Starboy. I love the atmospheric and synthy direction he decided to go in here. Overall this is Abel's most realized and overall enjoyable album he's put out(including the original trilogy of mixtapes/EP's).
Honestly i don't have much to say about this album. It's just a throwaway trap album riddled with mediocre features. I enjoyed EA because it was fun but this album was honestly unbearably repetitive. + a few points for that thugger feature though.
Meg's latest EP is a bit of a mixed bag in terms of the tracklist and features. The first song on the album "Ain't Equal" sounds straight off a Tee Grizleey album but with better execution. The first half of the album is fun and boppy while the latter slows down a bit and adds a lot of inconsistency to the record.
Uzi’s second full-length studio album brings a new cinematic theme to his music and feels like a breath of fresh air. This is an undoubtedly fun but bumpy album that most who turn to music for fun will enjoy. What makes the album a bit rocky are the very forced and at times cringe skits. Uzi’s pen game also has not changed since “Luv is Rage 2” but nobody goes into an uzi album expecting any sort of lyricism. The constant flexing gets extremely tiring by the latter half ... read more
BTS returns with a new full-length LP that takes some tracks from their 2019 EP "Map of the Soul: Persona". "7" being 20 tracks isn't a bad record but seems to overstay it's welcome. Especially with a lot of the booming bass segments on the record i finished it fatigued. Some of the tracks seem to be behind the current trends which is weird because BTS is always on top of the trends. The track "UGH!" is just a straight banger that can't be denied.
I wasn't expecting much from Ozzy going in considering he hasn't released an album in roughly 10 YEARS. The album overall is pretty underwhelming though. The guitar riffs and the vocals are both pretty toothless even though Ozzy is definitely going for an edgy and sinister vibe with the record. Post Malone's trap-rock blend "Take What You Want" makes absolutely no-sense in being on this record. Not taking anything away from the track itself but in context of the album is was a weird ... read more
Going into “The Slow Rush”, I was excited to hear Kevin Parker's new album. The teasers "Lost In Yesterday" and "Posthumous Forgiveness" sounded like we were getting a more personal look into Tame Impala. But the deep cuts on the records blended together and were kind of bland. The record felt too fleshed out with the unnecessary interlude "Glimmer" at the end of the track list. The album just feels like a washed out and lifeless "Currents" ... read more
Going into this i don’t think many non-Bieber fans were excited for this one but didn’t think it was going to be as bad as it was. From the all-around annoying vocals to the extremely bland pop instrumentals this thing was a pure headache. The features were a bunch of lazy attempts to get streams from the lowest common denominator audience. Travis Scott delivers the laziest verse I think he’s ever done throughout his career. The project as a whole was just another cash grab ... read more
Going into the track I had a bit of speculation that the song was going to be gimmicky but I was pleasantly surprised on how the track panned out. The song plays to the classic James Bond instrumental with the main focus on the piano with quiet trumpets and a bit of ambient noise in the background. The score by Hans Zimmer is pretty fantastic mixed with Finneas's immaculate production beautifully. Her performance vocally wasn't anything new or special for a Billie Eilish song(not to downplay ... read more
