Kid Rock is the original culture vulture, he used Rap to become famous, then switched to making shitty country music. His early stuff was not great, but it was atleast unique, and had personality. This album is his first where he just sounds like a ripoff Bob Seger.

Being a rock opera made my excpectations high for this one. Coupled with not being too familiar with The Who, I was quitw surprised by this. The songs are of quality, but the runtime was perhaps too long and it became monotonous after a while.
But it's not too bad, the vocals were keeping me hooked for the most part, and the guitar arrangement sound very clean and adventorous for 1969.
Fav Tracks: Pinball Wizard, Sally Simpson, Christmas

Saw her in "Chungking Express" and wanted to see if her music was any good. And holy gag alert she is absolutely a FORCE in the studio. Beutiful vocals and production that is constantly switching up between "Coctaeu Twins-type shi" to ballads to dance. Shoutout to the baby on the final track.
Fav Tracks: Track 9 (Beautiful Ballad), Track 2
Least Fav. track 5
Billy Corgan is the funniest MF in rock music. He will say during interviews with a straight face that Kurt Cobain stole his guitar tone. I've always wanted to hate Billy, but I have to give it to him, he can absolutely cook. Him and the rest of the band must have been coked up making a double album that is so rich with ideas. There is an almost perfect flow from heavy tracks that shake your skull with noise and dark guitar tones to more dreamy trakcs with lush harmonies and twinkly ... read more
Patsy Cline walked so Jessie Murph could run. I need to listen more to classic country. But this is a great beginning for me. Her voice is confident, and The Jordanires do a good job of accompanying her. The arrangements are surprisingly dense, with strings and choir filling out the space. I can definitely hear Mitski taking inspiration from this on her more country inspired songs. In fact, I checked this album out because Mitski name-dropped Patry Cline in an interview.

The first track sounds super freaky. It remonds me of the "Water Temple Theme" from Zelda Ocarina Of Time with those similar synth-trills. The second track is perhaps a bit more "Standard", or I guess i should say more similar to other ambient trakcs I have heard, featuring more organs and woodwinds. But still a very pleasng experience. And the fact that this came out in 1969 is insane!
The urge to isolate yourself in a cabin in the woods for months and just record music is so real. You can hear the desperate conditions Justin Vernon was experienceing in these songs. The creaky, dusty ambient sounds of the cabin is picked up in every guitar overdub. The heavy layering of vocals giving this a sense of loneliness and almost a ghostly vibe.

Niche gag alert! I remember me and my friend playing "guess the song" on some website, and "L.E.S Artistes" came up and we both went "What is this, this is amazing?" . Glad I checked out this album, it is a great blend of indie rock, ska/ reggae / electronic influences. Her vocals have this roughness to them, with kinda pitchy, confident high notes that really cut through.
Fav Tracks: L.E.S Artistes, Say Aha, Starstruck

A more bright and colorful follow-up to Cold Visions. Bladee brings more chaotic beats, and zany punchlines that he is known for. The nice guitar passages on the outro and "The Dark Mirror" gave the album more depth too.
Fav Tracks: The Dark Mirror, Dolor

I need a 6 month vacation from Drake, hearing these three albums back to back has genuinely fried my brain and left permanent damage. I guess this was a bit dancier, but Drake didn't say f*cking anything here.
Fav Tracks: Idk, Goose and the Juice?
Least Fav: True Bestie
After 1 hour of Iceman, maybe I was just too burnt out to try and give this album a fair shot. But if Drake is gonna drop 3 records at the same time I'd expect to listen to them kn sequence. But sadly just 2 records in and I feel like my brain is getting poisoned. This is so goddamn boring.
Fav Tracks: Rusty Intro (Even if this sounded like Ass, It was atleast unique)
Least Fav: Classic
No autotune, no swedish songwriters, just pure, raw rock and roll. Jack white and Meg white contantly fall into such a great groove. The guitars are super crisp and detailed, but at the same time dirty and so loud you feel like you will be knocked over.
Favourite Tracks: 7 Nation Army, Girl you have no faith in medicine
Least Fav: Little Acorns
This probably goes hard if you are 14. I mean the first song being called "Born to Die" immediately tells me this was going to be a fake-deep and pretentious joruney. But hey, maybe some songs would still be catchy? NOOOOPE!
This entire thing is mostly downtempo snoozers. I admit Lanas voice sounds pretty good in a low, slow register. But the facts she never pushes for something more aggressive and uptempo hurts my enjoyment.

While "Rumours" had higher highs, this was more consistent. Especially Christine McVies songs here were really sweet. Her keyboards and voice often get overlooked in this band. We also get cool cowboy-ass riffs, the same iconic fleetwood mac harmonies, all the good stuff.
Fav Tracks: Warm Ways, Landslide, Rhiannon
Least Fav: Say You Love Me
Why does every modern "rock" album sound exactly the f*cking same. The same Squashed, sample-replace steriale ass drum sounds, the most cookie-cutter guitars that get completely buried in the mix, sh1tty song structures. It's ALL THE SAME!!!
The vocals were atleast servicable, but wholy hell this sounds like water boiling.
Fav Tracks: How can i make it OK?
Least Fav: Idk alll of them sucked, maybe Beach 2
This felt more direct and focused compared to Astral weeks. The songs were shorter, with more focus on punchy drums and quick turns.
There was a lot of variety here featuring jazz influences, baroque, folk and pop sounds.
Fav Tracks: Crazy Love, Come Running
Least Fav: These Dreams of you
Checking out why Ed Sheeran and everyone else glazes Van Morrison so much. And i Kinda see it, he has super free flowinh guitar arrangements, with touches of strings and flutes that take you to a place far away.
I like that he takes his time with each song, will definitely cue this up when summer comes.
Fav Tracks: Sweet Thing

People say this was the closest to Kurt's original vision he had for Nirvana, but I don't really agree. The agressive sctreaming, the heavy feedback and noisy production feels more like the band taking risks, knowing they'd already "made it".
But I think Kurts real strength was melodies, and "Nevermind" just had better melodies, and is the superior record. Even if this has a cool as well sound pallette.

She does a good job of evolving her sound, even if i prefer the darker aspects of "When we all fall asleep where do we go?". Feels like Billie very quickly became a pop star without even trying. She didn't have a "Sell out" sound or anything, she just kinda speaks her mind, and that's what people like about her. And ultimately she is a good voice of reason to have in the world of pop.
Sonically, Finneas has some highs and lows in the production. The parts with ... read more
