This album oozes the listener in within mere seconds. The minimalistic instrumentation, folksy songwriting and Jessica Pratt's very fragile vocals makes for an incredibly gratifying and soothing listening experience. And at barely half an hour in length, this album is almost all killer, no filler.

...who thought this was a good idea in 2019?

Get this thing back to 2003

Next to its obvious memetic value, the noisy IDM influences on this thing serve as a great breather in between the often hilarious mashup tracks. It can feel a bit scattered and directionless at times, but it's a fun listen nonetheless.

Xiu Xiu delivers their most complex, hysterical and haunting album to date. I have very few words to describe it, but I know that I am in love.

One of their best offerings to date

Julia Kent brings forth a captivating and stunning blend of morden classical music, ambient techno and chamber music. While some songs like the stunning opening track 'Last Hour Story' are more gratifying than others, this album manages to maintain a solid atmosphere and has a neck for stunning melodies. Very pleasant listen.

The gazillion features on this thing kinda make me sick. It is so incredibly obvious that these posthumous albums are released for the sole reason of making as much money as possible, capitalizing on young and impressionable tweens.

The music is shit as well

Bring Me The Horizon continue on their foray into pop music, with an album that is the most instantly forgettable of their carreer. Some songs on this thing that are a little heavier and more flashed out like MANTRA and Wonderful Life are good, but the majority of these tracks are feel like b-sides to a background pop/rock album. Everything feels undercoocked, while never being aggressively bad. Some of the EDM crossovers don't go over all that well, but nothing here makes me want to hang ... read more

This isn't as much a covers album as it is a copy album-- Weezer see fit to put 0 effort into putting their own spin on these tracks. The songs resemble the original A LOT. Even to the point where the band uses the same vocal effects as the original songs. The performances are ok, but every track feels like a boneless rendition of the original

Not recommended

I wanted to like this so bad, having liked nearly everything james blake has worked on/made in the past. Even last year's 'If The Car Besides You Moves Ahead' made my year end list. However, this album was very dissapointing. Many parts of this album are kind of reminiscent of parts of Frank Ocean's Blonde, but less detailed and vibrant. A lot of these tracks feel unfinished, hollow and feel like they lead nowhere. There are attempts at mashing Blake's signature electronics with a pop/hip-hop ... read more

This album is a mixed bag if there ever was one. While it does have its fun moments (KITTY KITTY, Mona Lisa, Me Time), so many of the tracks at best feel like unfinished ideas. Furthermore, even the tracks that I'd consider to be good are obviously tracks that exist to flair up their live shows, to the point where it sounds like fan service (which is something they indulge in on every album). Sonically, this album is interesting, but many instrumentals are plagued by a lack of artistic ... read more

This works so incredibly well. Travis has shown many times before that he is comfortable rapping over more abstract beats and James Blake's and Metro Boomin's production suits him very well. It might not be as ambitious as some of James Blake's other works, but a fantastic track nonetheless.

Also the way James' vocals bleed into the instrumental around the 2:25 mark is perfect

My biggest problem with this album is the fact that it is incredibly forgettable. Sure, everything sounds pleasant and the performances are great, but absolutely nothing stands out. The album utilizes the loud/soft dynamic so often it becomes a joke. Still, a pretty decent record and I kinda got what I was expecting.
