Doja Cat - Paint The Town Red
30

How do you say that your old music was nothing but a cash grab, and then immediately make a song that is obviously a cash grab?

Ez Mil - Realest
40

I never heard of Ez Mil, but he was definitely the best part of the track, even if he didn't offer that much. Eminem, on the other hand, was the worst part of the entire song. His lyrics are terrible and corny as fuck, especially when he talks about his skin color and Gen Z. And then he does his signature spiritual lyrical rap flow, which was already bad. The production is cool, but that's about it. I'm honestly losing my faith in Eminem. At this point, I don't think he'll be releasing an ... read more

Souza - Sauvage

I wish I was old enough to drink because this song would go harder if I was drunk.

Souza is out here with another banger. While not my favorite song, it's a hell of a vibe. I love the chill production, and the lyrics are clever and funny. Just an overall vibe that's easy to get lost in

James Blake - Assume Form
70

While Assume Form is a slight departure from James' previous albums and overall sound, I think this change was needed. With The Colour in Anything, I could start to hear the sound James dabbled in age. While that album does have some great tracks, most of them sound generic and repetitive. It was clear that James needed to change things up. For the most part, Assume Form achieves that change up in an amazing way.

On Assume Form, James dabbles in more pop and hip-hop production. While ... read more

James Blake - The Colour in Anything

Quality over quantity is the most important thing for an album. I would rather have a short album that has amazing tracks than a long album that has boring or even terrible tracks. Sadly though, The Colour in Anything seems to go for quantity over quality.

Now, this album isn't bad in any way. However, this album is WAY too long for the sound it's going for, with most of the tracks feeling like filler. Most of the tracks on this album aren't that interesting and are kind of ... read more

How can a song be both fucked up and beautiful? I really want to cry, but I'm not going to.
With this song alone, I know Parker and Ritchie are going to create amazing things

James Blake - Overgrown
80

Everything that was James Blake Self titled is amazingly achieved on Overgrown

While Overgrown is a little more, as some people say, "mainstream," James still leans into that experimentation, just not as heavily and weakly executed. On Overgrown, the atmosphere is cold and empty, but it's done in a memorable and surprisingly colorful way. The production on each track is amazing, sounding cold and barren, just like the album cover. I listen to each track and feel like ... read more

James Blake - James Blake

Not gonna lie, this album didn't age well

I still like the album to some degree, and I completely understand why this album is loved and praised. There are some genuinely beautiful and haunting moments in this album that are amazing. Tracks like Measurements and The Wilhelm Scream have amazing production, and James' singing is stunning. I also like some of the more weirder tracks, like To Care (Like You). The pitched up vocals add this eeriness to the track, and the lyrics add to that ... read more

Travis Scott - UTOPIA

Björk did it better

Actual Review:

I was scared going into this album. I was worried that Travis was going to do the same sound that was on ASTROWORLD and Rodeo, which isn't bad, but I didn't want to hear the same thing over and over again. But thank God, that wasn't the case. On UTOPIA, Travis goes for a more dark and wild sound. While it was jaw-dropping at first, I was so happy that Travis did something different with this album. The first track of this album is an amazing song that ... read more

Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD
80

Pretty good, but not amazing

ASTROWORLD is a small improvement from BITTSM. However, before I talk about the positives, let me talk about the negatives. For one, it still kind of falls into the problem of BITTSM, where some of the tracks blend in with one another, especially in the middle section of the album. And again, some of the tracks sound the same throughout their time length. However, unlike BITTSM, ASTROWORLD is way more interesting to listen to and has some amazing songs from ... read more

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight

BITTSM is a disappointing follow-up to a great album that was Rodeo

On this album, Travis goes for the same sound that was on Rodeo. One problem, though: it sounds so BORING on this album. That may sound like a shocker since I did say that this album is going for the same sound that was on Rodeo. But that's the problem. A lot of the tracks on this album just sound the same. While each track on Rodeo was distinct, most of the tracks on BITTSM blend together in a negative way. Also, most of the ... read more

Travis Scott - Rodeo

Since Utopia may be coming out soon, I wanted to prepare myself by listening to all of Travis' SOLO albums. Now, I haven't listened to any of Travis' music, except for some of the more popular songs like Sicko Mode. I have 2 reasons why I haven't listened to his music. One, I wasn't really that interested. While I knew who he was, I wasn't interested in checking him out for some reason. Two, the ASTROWORLD event. Ever since that event happened, I stayed away from ... read more

Opals - Shimmering

Thank you @ConcreteCastles for showing me your album :)

Not gonna lie, this album reminds me of some songs off of Soundtracks For The Blind and Kid A, just not as dark. But even if the album isn't dark, it's still pretty great. The whole album is just soothing and is filled with sound. There's never a moment where the tracks just stop. Each track on this album flows really nicely, which helps with the psychedelia part of the album. Shimmering is just an overall great album with so many great ... read more

Thank you @johnb3g for showing me your song :)

I mean... DAMN! This song is amazing! The changes it goes through are really good. I really love the instrumentation of this song. It is so calming and beautiful, even when it does change. I also really love your vocals. Although these are a few moments where the mic picks up some background noise. But besides that, this track is really good. I'm amazed at the number of young people who can make amazing things. I'm 17, and even I can't make ... read more

Oxbow - Love's Holiday

Heaven and Hell in one album

I've listened to Oxbow's entire discography, but I still didn't know what to expect with this new album. All I knew was that this album was going to go hard and be hellish. Unsurprisingly, that's exactly what this is. I have to start with the instrumentation of this album. It is fucking amazing! There are so many hellish and dirty moments on this album, like on the tracks Dead Ahead and The Second Talk, where the instrumentation sounds bluesy but is heavily rock ... read more

Blur - The Ballad of Darren

Cracker Island, but better

While The Ballad of Darren isn't Blur's best album, I think they do this slower sound pretty good. It's very reminiscent of Cracker Island, with its slow moving progression and its imaginary visuals, but it's not as boring or underwhelming as that album. The lyrics on this album are actually really good, having a lot of emotion in them. Tracks like The Narcissist and The Everglades have moving lyrics that sound pretty personal to Damon. The instrumentation, for the ... read more

Nas - Magic 2

Nas is making me act nasty, and Hit-Boy is out here hitting my ass 😩

Nas and Hit-Boy have to be the best rap duo right now. Hit-Boy has been helping bring out the best out of Nas with his production that mixes modern production with the production that sounds close to Illmatic. I thought King's Disease 3 would be the last we would hear from them, but apparently, they have more to give with Magic 2. Magic was such an amazing album that kind of acted like a placeholder for KD3, which was ... read more

Blur - Parklife

Parklife definitely inspired some of the sound for Gorillaz

While 13 was more rock here and experimental, Parklife is more poppy with its catchy hooks and very British humor. It's definitely a big contrast from 13, but Blur does this pop sound amazingly. They don't incorporate any serious and deep topics, which make this album a lot more fun to listen to. The first track alone lets you know that this album isn't taking itself seriously. Even the slower tracks have some humorous ... read more

Imagine being so lazy to name your album that you just name it after the number of tracks that are in the album πŸ˜’

13 is the album that got me interested in listening to Blur. I've seen many people talk about it and how amazing it is, which made me curious and made me want to check out the album. Thank God I listened to this album. 13 has a lot of the things I love about music. It has the grooviness that makes me bop my head aggressively. It has experimental moments that just leave you ... read more
