KSI - Keep Up
40

I honestly don't think this was that bad. KSI is just not very interesting here.

Black Milk & Danny Brown - Black and Brown!
65

Fun project. Black Milk supplies some excellent beats and Danny Brown has witty bars but there's nothing spectacular here. There's really not much connection between each track.

Favorite Tracks: Wake Up, Jordan VIII, Black and Brown
Least Favorite: LOL

IDLES - Brutalism
90

Targeted political and social statements throughout. Good stuff.

Imagine Dragons - Smoke + Mirrors
75

I enjoyed most of the songs on this album. The second half is a bit weak.

Favorite Tracks: Shots, Gold, Polaroid, Friction
Least Favorite: Summer, The Fall

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels 3
65

Without the aggression of the first album or the amazing production of the second album. Still enough to be a good album but a bit worried about future RTJ albums.

N*E*R*D - NO_ONE EVER REALLY DIES
60

Some good tracks but this album is kind of all over the place.

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
80

Danny Brown's most focused album. The beat selections and dark vibes are fantastic

Clipse - Til the Casket Drops
70

Pusha T and Menace bring the same gritty style as in their previous album but with more interesting beats.

Favorite Tracks: Freedom, Kinda Like A Big Deal, I'm Good, Never Will It Stop
Least Favorite: The last two tracks. They weren't bad but they felt a bit mediocre compared to the rest of the album.

Cage the Elephant - Melophobia
55

I enjoyed the singles but few other tracks.

Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d city
85

Like watching a movie. Kendrick is probably the best lyricist right now. Somehow he manages to fit his entire narrative without sacrificing any listenability.

Lil Uzi Vert - Lil Uzi Vert vs. The World
60

Some excellent beats. Lil Uzi is very braggadocious and playful here.

80

Stop yelling please

Pusha T - King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude
70

Raw. Pusha T delivers some hard-hitting tracks and even takes aims at his former business partners. Nothing spectacular but solid throughout.

Favorite Tracks: Intro, Untouchable, M.P.A
Least Favorite: F.I.F.A., Sunshine

Richard Dawson - Peasant
95

Every song is like a beautifully crafted movie. My only complaint is that Richard Dawson doesn't really have the best voice and it shows on some songs more than others (Ogre for example). Although he kind of gets away with it because the less than stellar voice seems to advance the sort of folksy feel of the album.

Favorite Tracks: Ogre, Soldier, Prostitute, Beggar
Least Favorite: Hob

On Shapeshifter, Dawson mentions the man being given a potato. How??? Potatoes are a new world crop but I ... read more

OutKast - Stankonia
80

I'm not a big Outkast fan but the more mainstream songs on Stankonia really did it for me. Interludes are alright but not when they make up a third of the tracks.

Favorite Tracks: Gasoline Dreams, So Fresh, So Clean, Ms. Jackson, B.O.B., Humble Mumble
Least Favorite: I'll Call B4 I Come, Toilet Tisha

A$AP Ferg - Trap Lord
70

Trap Lord is dark and fun.

Skepta - Konnichiwa
75

For some reason, the two tracks with American rappers are among the worst on the album.

Travis Scott - Rodeo
80

Really creative trap album

Favorite Tracks: 3500, Pray 4 Love, Nightcrawler (There's a brief point around 3:30 where I could swear Chief Keef is speaking Chinese), Apple Pie, Ok Alright
Least Favorite: Wasted, Piss On Your Grave
