i think the only “problem” i have with this album is that i dont really see any kind of connection between the songs. it isnt a terrible thing, but it just kinda makes the album feel more just like a compilation rather than an album

honestly this album doesnt really click for me. i think lots of the production really hasnt aged well with how almost “party” sounding a lot of the beats are. another thing that doesnt really help is the fact that this is coming right after XXX, making it to me, even more disappointing. also i think kush coma is fucking terrible
favorites - side A, the return, wonderbread, gremlins, lonely, red 2 go, float on

a decent debut. danny shows us great lyrical skill and great rapping ability. i think lots of the beats could be better though. there are also too many tracks

MASTERPIECE 10/10 THANK YOU TOM “GENIUS” MACDONALD AND ADAM “MUSIC” CALHOUN

favorites - sicana, shiv, , (the song is literally called “,”)
least favorites - roadtrip, moira, trojan horse, reverse bear trap,
holy shit this thing is great
the fact that this group could make such a great album on their first one is insane, especially with it being at this quality.
of course zach hills drumming is fucking nuts but i feel like spencer seim isnt really given as much praise as i think he deserves, because he kills it as well.
despite how short it is, i think it actually serves as a perfect length for an album like this, and left me feeling satisfied pretty much the whole time through.

this is probably the most personal kendrick has been on an album, and its very noticeable
this album covers so many topics like grief, family, conflict, mental health, and many other things. i think kendrick is very good at conveying them.
while there are many parts of this album that sound very pretty, a lot of it is probably the dirtiest ive heard from him.
my complaints really boil down to some of the album being just a bit forgettable, and that sometimes it just feels like a bit of a slog ... read more
the beginning of this album had me really scared, but my speculations were pretty wrong, for the most part.
this album has a VERY strong mid section, and to me it makes the rest of the record not as great.
lots of the time you can hear lil ugly mane staying in a pretty narrow vocal range, which is fine, but i do wosh hed push himself more in that area.
even though the album does have some not amazing parts, the highs are HIGH. the best parts of this album are so great to listen to, and just ... read more
wow.
this review is probably really difficult to read because i have extreme trouble explaining exactly how i feel about this album so im sorry for that
after just listening to mti, this blew me the fuck away.
this album definitely shows to be a far more personal project for lil ugly mane, and it still sounds great.
while this might genuinely be one of the most depressing records ive ever listened to, it still manages to deliver some insane beats that make my ears literally ascend, though the ... read more
how do i completely explain how i feel about this album
first off is the sound. holy SHIT this album just sounds amazing pretty much all the way through. lil ugly mane achieves such a unique sound that i think not many other people could really even imagine.
almost every song sounds unique while still having the signature sound of the album its on, and it sounds amazing.
another thing i like is the almost goofy style this album has at times, which definitely feels intentional.

wow this album is awesome
i cant really think of much wrong with this album except for one thing
jesus walks pt 2
its not a bad song, i just dont feel like it really fits the project as a whole
being death grips real “debut”, its pretty crazy how much they know their sound so early into their discography
this mixtape feels so dirty but in the best way, if that makes sense
the instrumentals make me feel like im in like some sort of abandoned military base in the middle of the desert, so the title fits pretty well
but like
yeah
insane mixtape, especially for how early into their career they were when making it

this is probably the most difficult death grips album ive had to finish but i do think it was worth it overall
