The best album of all time fight me…
favs: hounds of love, the big sky, cloudbusting, under ice, waking the witch, jig of life, hello earth
One of my favourite albums ever. Grimes’ best work (in my opinion) encapsulates her style perfectly. Idiosyncratic vocals and vibrant production, mixed with modern themes. Stunning.
fav: kill v maim
An overall great album, amazing! >
fav: the last time (taylor’s version)
Jesus Christ this album is amazing. Extraordinary songwriting and some classical but idiosyncratic production. Mix that with Fiona’s timeless vocals and you get When The Pawn.
I went into this album with already low expectations, however the album left me more appalled than I had expected. I can’t remember a single positive moment in this album. It was like a perfect storm of horrible bars and egregious instrumentation. Overall some unabashedly bad stuff.
fav: none
‘evermore’ is arguably Taylor’s best album lyrically. She writes about many themes and emotions vividly with brilliant and maudlin uses of metaphors, descriptions, and other literary devices. It can also be argued that this is her best album vocally. The album is a personal favourite of mine for these reasons.
fav: long story short
A great, fun album. Personality is on full display with excellent production, vocals, and lyricism.
fav: california
Caroline's magnum opus. It is wide. It is raw. It is versatile. The lyricism is impeccable and delicate. The production is lush, experimental, and frankly beautiful. Awesome stuff.
fav: pretty in possible
Great dance beats and raw lyricism. The production is wild in the best way possible.
fav: mean girls
Some of the best synthpop I've ever heard. Elite lyricism and creative production.
fav: chaeri
Absolutely stunning album. Detailed and poignant lyricism. Killer guitars.
One of my favorite albums ever.
Impeccable writing and mystifying production. Reminds me of a theatrical Sade.
'All Born Screaming' is an album as intense as it is raw. I'd argue this is one of (if not) Annie's most personal albums to date. The lyricism is sharp, poignant, and maudlin. It feels like a return to her old writing style; laced with metaphors and vivid descriptions. On All Born Screaming, Annie sings about her familial struggles and her struggles with identity, grief, and loss. From front to back, Annie exerts a wide range of emotions. From her lustful infatuations in ... read more
