Noel sounds off on this version, but the song itself is still good, and even better live with the crowd singing along.
The New Workout Plan should be the length of this whole album but other than that yeah it's alright
Became EVER so slightly stale toward the end, but a great album with amazing riffs, albeit repetitive lyrics.
Arctic Monkeys 2.5:
Remembered this existed after listening to FWN, so I put it on straight after. Tracks 3 and 4 feel much more heartfelt than the other early output from this band, which I think is my favourite side of Alex Turner as of yet. Despair in the Departure Lounge reminds me of The Bakery.

From the very first song, you can hear how they've settled in their sound and improved while still keeping the same youthful vibe. Alex's voice mixing and the overall production is far better, even if some prefer the rawer sound of WPSIATWIN.

Review 1 of me planning to listen to every album from this band.
This album is very obviously a debut album, but the band are great. I was particularly impressed with Matt's drumming and Nick's bass playing.
However, there were a fair share of songs on here that I just didn't enjoy. The backing vocals were annoying at times and I just don't enjoy Alex's vocals in general, especially this young version of him that sounds like he's recorded the album on a treadmill.
Although Mezmerize is great, SOAD begin to blend in with the other nu-metal bands which they were so unique from
