Paris Texas' sophomore album MID AIR is unique with punchy production and a balance of humor, hype and deeply personal topics. Songs like PANIC!!!, BULLET MAN, and Earth-2 sound unlike anything I've heard in hip-hop before. They're bold and aggressive and are used perfectly by PT members Louie Pastel and Felix, with Pastel perfectly matching that aggressive energy on Sean-Jared by dropping the line: "Shut the fuck up, you a ... read more

I could not imagine what this would've done to my brain chemistry if this was released when I was 17.

There is something so exciting about Model/Actriz's ability to pair this intense, chaotic noise with lead singer Cole Haden's erotic edge in vocals. They are a fully real and unapologetic rock band bringing something new to the table on every song.

When I saw them play this live I cried my eyes out and when I saw the movie version in theaters I cried my eyes out and I will continue to cry my eyes out over this album until the end of time.

I'm so glad this album is good because if it wasn't I would've chopped off all my hair, deleted my account and live in a remote cabin in the woods for the rest of my life like Ted Kaczynski (R.I.P.).
"In Times New Roman..." finds a cool balance between theatrical and intense rock for Queens of the Stone Age. This album offers some of the best guitars Queens of the Stone Age has had on a record in recent years, with ... read more

The new Protomartyr record is an incredible gothic-alternative album with a heavy focus on its guitars. Formal Growth in the Desert showcases some of the best instrumentals from the band to date- with these catchy and emotional guitar solos on Polacrilex Kid, We Know the Rats, Graft vs. Host and Make Way. The more gothic turn on this album works really well with frontman Joe Casey's voice with the closer featuring some of ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: All The People
Although there are major flaws on some technical parts of Food for Worms (not to be a big nerd but the vocal mixing on Burning By Design is awful), this album showcases the best of lead singer Charlie Steen’s songwriting skills and the band’s incredible adrenaline in sound. Orchid, The Fall of Paul, and Yankees are the most poetic shame has ever been while tracks like Fingers of Steel, Albis, and Six-Pack have some of the ... read more

I do like this album, but I will need a lot of time to mull over it. I’ve only listened to it in full maybe two or three times since it was released because it’s just so heavy, however, Xiu Xiu has proved in the past to have done better experimental horror. There’s a real, insane intensity on Girl With Basket Fruit that Ignore Grief does not have, and they don’t sacrifice that insanity for ... read more

I can't express to you with words how much I love this album. I think Ween is one of the most talented and unique bands of all time, and Quebec is one of the most interesting albums I've ever heard. Every song is so different yet incredibly well made, Dean Ween's guitar on tracks like Happy Colored Marbles and The Argus are some of the best of his career. Gene Ween was going through a divorce at the time of release which led to the ... read more

Wednesday is the best band in the shoegaze/alternative scene right now and Rat Saw God's impeccable storytelling and noisy intensity proves that.

hello everyone long time, no write!
Danny Brown and JPEGMAFIA know how to have a good time in the studio, and SCARING THE HOES is the outcome of letting these two do what they know best. This album delivers crazy beats, goofy and memorable lines and a fun album from the two rappers. Although it's clear Peggy can ride a crazier beat a little better than Danny, with a lot of Danny's verses sounding like he's fighting to be ... read more

FAVORITE TRACK: I Want a Dog
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Sheraton Commander
This part isn't bad. In fact... I'd go so far as to say this is good for the most part. I Want A Dog, The One That Got Away and The Deep and Dreamless Sleep are pretty good power pop songs. The guitar solo on The One That got Away is really sick and some of the most interesting music Weezer has had in a very long time.
Although there are songs that are pretty boring on this, Winter is easily the best of all the SZNZ EPs.

Do you think 30 years ago Rivers Cuomo would've known he would one day make a song with a repeating synth line and describing something as "a vibe"?
With SZNZ: Autumn, I would argue that Rivers Cuomo sounds his best on the EPs thus far but the lyrics are unforgivably stupid (see Francesca for instance). The songs have some decent instrumental choices at time that are completely ruined ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Blue Like Jazz
I've been trying to force myself to listen to these every time they were released but the corniness of the lyrics always drove me away. The Summer edition of Weezer's SZNZ does suffer the same fate of the Spring EP of having this very loose mythical and medieval storyline that just doesn't work at all on tracks like Lawn Chair and Cuomoville, but Summer does have a much more impressive instrumental aspect. I'm not ... read more

I was planning on writing a very thorough and cohesive review, but then I heard the line "I'm somebody's daughter, I'm somebody's sister, I'm somebody's friend" and my brain melted into a big pile of mush and I have to take time to regain my motor function.

Grotto has the best instrumentals I've heard this year. The lofi and dreamy sound is so unique and enthralling that uses these beautiful violins to build powerful moments on the album. Grotto does not overstay its welcome- running at only a little over 30 minutes-and is incredibly impressive throughout.

They Are Gutting A Body Of Water, the next "big thing" in shoegaze, shows their talent of combining dreamy guitar riffs with a more digital sound to create something entirely unique with LUCKY STYLES.
