I saw Viagra Boys live back in September and Sebastian Murphy casted a love spell on me I have not been able to stop thinking him and his band.
The most fun I've had listening to an album this year. Viagra Boys' satirical take on modern politics is sharp and witty and balanced out by insanely creative jazz-punk instrumentals.

"Let me go and don't let go of me."
Quadeca, a person I know from Youtube, delivers an extremely powerful and moving album with I Didn't Mean To Haunt You. The concept is extremely creative and done masterfully as Quadeca tells these stories from the perspective of a ghost. He deals with grief and anger and pain in such a natural way over these very beautiful instrumentals.
I have never heard anything like this, and ... read more

And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow is beautiful and solidifies the fact that Natalie Mering is one of the best vocalists alive.

I really was born in the generation I wish I was a weird millennial like I should've been at this live performance I wish I wasn't 9 in 2011.
EDIT: Although I personally love these songs and think they're very beautiful and impressive tracks, but this album would have definitely benefited from a live video attached to it. I'm familiar with the art these songs are paired with, but I can see how this is flat and not interesting ... read more

BROCKHAMPTON is nothing without its members. For this reason, TM is light years better than The Family but nowhere near their best. There are some special and interesting verses on here, but a lot of these songs feel very generic for a band who was always good at keeping their sound interesting.
FMG and NEW SHOES both have very fun and aggressive beats that sound reminiscent of the band's IRIDESCENCE days. MAN ON THE MOON is so ... read more

BROCKHAMPTON is nothing without its members. The Family, which only features Kevin Abstract and bearface, is 35 minutes of Kevin Abstract jerking himself off. The Family is extremely self-centered and in poor taste to release under the band's name. This albums feels petty, insecure and like it was only released to fill a quota (because it was).
Kevin Abstract is not wrong for putting out an album addressing how the creative ... read more

*this is not a real review but rather an inner, free-flow monologue where I reflect on my time as a brockhampton stan*
I used to be a brockhampton STAN. You liked BROCKHAMPTON? Well, I liked them more. I was obsessed. They were my life from the age of 14 to 16. I swore on my life that SATURATION II was the best album I've ever heard. I never heard anything like it.
I stopped regularly listening to BROCKHAMPTON around the end of 2018 and I ... read more

Youtuber Matt Watson has found a way to make catchy and fun music while balancing out the personality he's known for. It's not important to know Matt Watson or Supermega before getting into this album (Matt's even talked about going under a pseudonym for his music) but, let's be honest: you stumbled on this album page because of his work on Youtube.
"Youtuber Music" is a culture phenomenon with a majority of it for the ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Midnight Rain
Taylor Swift has been running the pop scene like the goddamn Navy since 2008. The past two years have seen Swift at her absolute best with the release of folklore and evermore, as well as the rerecording sessions of her old work. The announcement of Midnights excited me with its teasing to be a collection of songs throughout the years written on sleepless nights. And all those promo pictures really excited me- ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Title Track
Celebrity Therapist is insane. It's fast-paced and loud and intense with uniquely strange lyrics. The vocals on this redone amazingly well, my main complaint really comes from tracks like Title Track and Field Sobriety Practice that pay homage to metal of the 00s. It's never necessarily been a sound I enjoyed, with the final chorus of Title Track feeling like a System of a Down track more than anything else.

On Thursday, I bonded with Lindsey Jordan of Snail Mail over this band and their upcoming show. This album is good on its own, but I feel that's important to mention.
Household Name is a wonderful tribute to the 90s. The melodies are so catchy and are expanded on by the great vocals.

I know I'm the Surf Curse Lady so I was going to give this a high rating but this is NEXT LEVEL. Magic Hour is an ambitious next step for the band, utilizing an older and classic sound to create something entirely new.
Magic Hour is heavily inspired by the sounds of the 60s and 70s and it's been very apparent with the album cover and the album rollout in general. Little Rock 'n' Roller is the most straight forward with its inspiration, ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: It would be Phantom if it didn't have that guitar solo so I don't know
I think traditional pop is dead. Pop stars are a thing of the past. There are no pop girlies like Britney and Christina and Rihanna anymore, rather switching out for an alternative type like Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey or a personal type like Olivia Rodrigo. Not that it's a bad thing to move into a new direction, it just feels like pop dramatics are a thing of the past. ... read more

Alex G threw it back to Blessing of course this album is getting a high rating from me.
God Save the Animals mixes indie folk with electronic and experimental noise. It's a sound spotted on Rocket and House of Sugar, but this album is the furthest exploration of it. Blessing combines this aggressive guitar and those weird "UNHS" and a whimsical piano to create what might actually be a perfect song. Tracks like After All and No ... read more

I Love You Jennifer B will go down in history as one of the best debut albums of all time. This is a beyond impressive art pop creation. Every song on this album is experimental, sexy and incredibly enticing. Jockstrap brings a creative element to pop music that is so fun and new that it would take other artists years to create.

This is really impressive. The Garden is the coolest, man. Always doing their own thing and being successful at it. Horseshit on Route 66 takes the punk roots the duo has been planting since the beginning of their career and creating something hardcore, fast-paced, weird and exciting for this album.

Mo Troper is a lofi/indie rock artist who's always been on my radar due to his relation to Slaughter Beach, Dog, Camp Trash and other acts of the sort. MTV is a messy record that is all over the place but does have charm.
MTV is a messy listen. It bounces from noisy lofi to acoustic indie to this Bob Dylan-like rock. The more acoustic stuff like I Fall Into Her Arms, Play Dumb, Across the USA and Under My Skin is the most ... read more
