So, I'll start this off by saying I've been a fan of Annie's for at around 11 years now. Strange Mercy, and Marry Me are great albums, and in my opinion, her best two. She has always been experimental from the very beginning, and that's what drew me to her in Marry Me. The songs don't quite neatly fit into any boxes, and she executes on her version of pop, but it feels like she's thrown lyricism, production, and generally making songs that fit her voice, out of the window, for aesthetic only. ... read more

I always find myself coming back to this album, because of the great thematic world that he manages to suck you into. Anyone who went through that period in their late teens to early 20's, of going to house parties or birthday parties that served the same function, can relate to the songs and the feelings that they bring out. We all know that period of our lives was one where we had a lot of social awkwardness, whether we knew it or not. The subtle feeling of never being completely sure about ... read more

Only having a 60 rating is mind blowing to me, Tha Supreme has some of the best production I've heard anywhere. I can't understand Italian, but these beats are speaking a universal language, and they are at such a high level. I commend whoever worked on this album and did the production because I feel like I could listen to this album even without vocals. It gets even better with the vocals layered over the top of these beats, the mixing is absolutely top tier, and this guy really knows how to ... read more

I'm one of the biggest Chip fans you'll find, guy is easily one of the greatest artists to come out of the U.K, but this album really doesn't hit for me. Grime Chip is one of the greatest U.K artists, Dancehall and modern U.S rap Chip just doesn't get my interest at all. I would even say the boom-bap U.S rap Chip is half decent, I'm one of those fans that liked his music when he went to America.

A lot of auto-tune in this album, and that's just the last thing you expect to hear from a Grime ... read more

Someone who would have been up there with the legends like Lee Moon Sae, and Shin Seung Hun. Such a sad story that he would die only months after the release of this album, at the age of 25. A lot of what you hear on this album, was later heard during the 90's boom of ballad singers such as Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston. Truly ahead of his time.

Taylor Swift is someone I have high expectations for, especially considering the resources she has, previous great album releases, and scores of 86, and 77 on here.

I felt the album had a good start, Exile really stood out as a brilliant song with Vernon's voice encompassing the track, which is by no means a bad thing. Though, I'd say Swift really did not stand out on this song, and I felt I'd have enjoyed it a lot more if she weren't on it. After that, it turns into a really bad country ... read more

Sadly, my biggest problem with this album is the length of it. The only way you can certifiably not bore your listeners to death is by having bangers upon bangers. Just think about it yourself, are there many artists you can listen to for 26 of their best songs in a row, and not find yourself at least a little bored of listening to them by the 20th song or so? Which makes it even worse, because there are no classics on this, no new Trippie bangers like he usually delivers.

There are a lot of ... read more

Most times people forget that musicians are called 'artists'. DPR Live manages to always remind you of this. From his videos, to his lyrics, and the production of his songs. You can tell it's all had a lot of thought put into it.

That being said, I expected more from DPR. It's a decent release, it has almost no low points, but in that same vein it never really peaks beyond 'nice'. It was a good listen, but there's nothing beyond Kiss Me that I'd actively listen to. It's just one of those ... read more

Really overly-hated album imo.

With ISIS as the second track the album starts off pretty good, and even though I don't like Young Unintelligible, The War wasn't terrible, it could even be good if you sped it up (trust me, go onto YT and listen to it on 1.25 speed). I Love comes right after as my favourite track off ADHD, and a certified banger that I'll still be bumpin' in years time. I first started really following Joyner because of his amazing storytelling songs like "I'm Sorry", ... read more

This is one of those albums that grows on you, on first listen it's okay, on second listen I found it to be great. Holding an 80's style sound throughout some songs, but managing to keep it sounding modern. Super clear, clean, production on the tracks, and everything from start to finish just sounds nice on your ears. Don't Go, Stranger, and Dong are 3 standout tracks.

Even on such a short album, they manage to switch up their style, and sound, as shown on Stranger. They do this seamlessly, ... read more

In terms of lyrics and style, this is very much the same as his previous albums. Take that as a positive, or negative, it's upto you. The production is similar, but I'd say here it's definitely a lot roomier, leaving a lot of space on tracks for Sik and Features to do their thing. Almost every track has features on it, this album is filled with friends and frequent collaborators of his.

Whilst being an okay listen. Overall, the album never manages to hit the heights of any of his previous ... read more

Not a terrible album, but in the second half it does fall off a bit. The first half of the album I would have given it a 70, because of tracks like Platina, and Sayonara Mama Boy. The second, unfortunately has tracks like Toilet, and the songs following from that never really get rid of the shit you hear that is Toilet. Although I do enjoy how across the album he tries a few different flows, and vocal effects. It ultimately doesn't hit for me, but it sure is close.

This was a pretty generic, and bland EP. She seems to have completely lost her unique, honest voice from her Lennon & Maisy songs, and turned into a poor man's Lorde. Nothing on this EP was new, or fresh. Which is sad, because I felt she had immense talent (along with her sister), and I could see her doing some sort of pop folk/country and have her own lane in that genre. Instead she's joined in on the already over-saturated field of other electropop/EDM singer musicians. Hopefully she can ... read more

Every time you could even think of getting bored, the pace changes in the next song keeping you following along. Although it has a consistent feeling of decent songs throughout, beyond the one stand-out 'good' song Telepathetic, the rest don't manage to rise to the same standards of that song. Yet it's definitely worth a listen through to hear Luminous, and New Year, New Me.

This album suffers from a lack of good beats, imo. He brings his flow and lyrics, but those beats are a low ceiling on this album. I don't know if he makes all his own beats. Either way, he chooses which beats to spit on, and these were very dull, and didn't have much feel to them at all. The best two tracks are the last two, leaving a nice feel on the end of the album. Though the dead feeling of the middle tracks really stand out, and will bring down what could have been a good album.

This album starts off really badly with the opening track 'Concrete'. The sound of it alone tells you someone has been listening to Babymetal, and decided that it was time to capitalise on that sound in the west. Unfortunately the song lacks the bounciness and melodic catchiness of a Babymetal song. I Disagree comes and shows that she's not just trying to become a Babymetal tribute act. It is a very catchy song, with nice transitions between the heavier and softer sounds.

Each track that comes ... read more

This album opens nicely with the first two tracks, showing a different vibe from his last project, and nice production to boot. 4 songs in and you will realise that it's starting to sound very similar. Even 3 of 4 song titles have the word love in them. Although, they're good alone. I feel the organisation for track numbering is pretty poor here. These songs would stand out much more if they were spaced out across the album, rather than being grouped feeling like one big sound. Real feel comes, ... read more

I'm not really sure on why the people on this website have such a hard-on for the art pop genre. It really makes me think people don't care about the music, and that they rate albums higher dependant on who's releasing it, and their aesthetic.

Many tracks feel like an overproduced mess most notably Fallen Alien. Her voice over the album becomes more and more annoying, it's just droning on the entire way through. I also feel like she hits super high pitched notes for no other reason than to ... read more

This album could easily be mistaken for a b-sides from any of their last few projects. It has feelings of earlier albums, and by that I mean straight up using riffs and melodies that sound exactly the same. Not every band has to reinvent themselves when they release so they don't get stale, too many bands fall for that trap thinking it'll mean automatic good reviews for 'being experimental' (looking at you BMTH). But to stick to the same, or at least something very, very close to it, for 20+ ... read more
