Changes

This album is difficult for me to rate, as about 5 years ago when this came out i was a hugeee justin fan so i listened to this album loads. However in retrospect coming back to this project years later and actually listening to it properly along with the lyrics, the album is a bag of hits and misses.
A huge issue i had was honestly the features. There was honestly no point in many of their additions, especially on a justin album, where his vocals are the reason people are drawn in, and therefore adding features already sets the work back. I think travis is a great rapper, but his verse really let second emotion down, and running over wasnt even that bad until lil dicky came on with some of the most disturbing lyrics on an already lyrically tasteless album. "ill kiss your breast so tenderly" "post intercourse when you walk by (ass ass ass)" likeeee what even are these. Dont think i could say that without bursting out laughing tbh.
The one collab i could get behind here was kehlani who i love and she really elevated the song with her addition.
My other issue is just the lyrical content, with the album starting off strong and then realising the pattern that every song is about the exact same topic. Yummy while honestly (dont hate me) isnt even that bad as a song, i just have to not focus on the lyrics too much to enjoy it (as its difficult to believe his wife would have even wanted a song like this written about her let alone released as a lead single).
Having said all this, the slower songs like changes, all around me, confirmation, at least for now i adore. The lyrical content while still simlarly topical sound gorgeous, and i find that this album is one of his strongest vocally, and therefore these are songs i always love coming back to, and are honestly underrated.
Overall, this album has some of justin's best and also weakest songs, and i do disagree with it being less than a three out of ten from a vocal and production standpoint alone.
