A great listen! Tails off slightly after a really strong first three tracks as the sound becomes slightly samey, but picks up again at the end with a fantastic closer taken from last years EP. Love the synthesis of liquid dnb with Lily Allen esque female UK indie
A solid second record that takes the logical steps forward from The Price Of Life
Fantastic record. The band have come on leaps and bounds from an already good EP a few years ago - their sound has matured into something more unique and the lyrics have developed in tandem, while Lily Fontaine’s voice remains as enchanting as ever
Great, as expected. Retains the wit that made the first album such a good listen, and adds in more varied instrumentation that prevents the style from going stale. Bonus points for making me tear up with the last minute or so of Blackpool Illuminations
Actually pretty decent. Both of them play to their strengths individually, but their sounds mesh together nicely. Some nice bluesy influence too aside from what you might normally expect - good stuff
Impressive debut. The singles are predominantly the strongest tracks, but the rest of the album does well to maintain the standard set and mood implemented by the aforementioned singles. Additions such as Portrait Of A Dead Girl also bring a lot to the listen in their own right. Nice record
Polarising, but I’m definitely a fan.
Edit: revisited 3 more times since my initial rating to check I wasn’t be overly generous, and yeah, this is a really fun and enjoyable record. Lighten up, aoty users
Quite a melancholic record with a real sense of finality. If this indeed is how Blur bow out, it will be a fitting end to a wonderful band
Heard the record at a listening party and it’s fantastic on first listen. Will probably edit my score one way or another after more listens when it’s released! Also Satanist goes ridiculously hard
Edit: yep, slaps
Really cool project. Strong collection of tracks that are great in themselves, but somewhat unfulfilling as an album
