spin and rolling stone looking dumb in 2000.
Adrenaline was just that. As a 90's kid I saw these guys on that first 96 US tour, and it was honestly one of the more intense shows I've ever been to. Nose Bleed, 7 Words, Engine No. 9. yes please. After that we saw the Deftones break more into the mainstream with Around the Fur. The mainstream FM rock radio and MTV take notice and the band takes off.
At the height of the 'nu metal' bullshit of the late 90's/early 00's the Deftones also reached the top of their popularity while dropping this beauty. While the Korn's and Limp Bizkut's of the world continued the complete nose dive in quality, if there was any quality to be found in the first place, the Deftones are headlining rock and metal festivals while playing songs like Digital Bath & Teenager all while still being able play some of the heaviest radio-rock you could hear at that point.
This band was GREAT live back in the day.
