Tyler, the Creator made a surprise announcement that his 8th album, Don't Tap The Glass would come out on Monday. What would it sound like? Well i guess we got the answer. Tyler has crafted this fun 30 minute album of hip house hits with a touch of synth funk, dance pop to many of the tracks. The album starts with Tyler introducing his alter ego, like every album has, over this Azealia Banks reminiscent hip-house beat. The following song, Sugar On My Tongue, is a synth-funk jam. I would ... read more
This album is incredibly boring to me. Perhaps the k ly parts of it that got me interested was when the lyrics were incredibly corny, disgusting or awkward. Wet Leg is back with this pretty bland and basic indie rock album. They talk a lot about love in this album, the intricacies of it and incredibly PERSONAL details, some of which I do not want to know about. CPR to catch these fists are pretty alright indie rock songs, though I find the chorus melody of catch these fists to be incredibly ... read more
This is one of the best releases of the year. Pharrell really shines with his production skills on this album. The first album in 16 years by Clipse is no disappoint ment and definitely a highlight for me for releases this year. Pharrell manages to craft a unique best for each song on the album, with the first four songs have this more electronic centred production, with this revving bass and thumping 808s. Paired with Pusha T and Malice's clever lyricms, this album really has tons of ... read more
Wow. Justin bieber surprised released another shitty album. You know, I always hope to see people who make bland pop music rediscover their passion for music and make something good, decent at least, and not pull off this "try to be deep" facade. I mean Miley Cyrus did it, why not him. Its been 10 years after all, you would think he would grow out of it. The album starts off fine, okay tracks like ALL I CAN TAKE and DAISES being average RnB songs that everyone has heard bieber put out ... read more
Kesha is back with one of her worst albums, possibly it is her worst. The album tries to be a throwback to her dance and electropop roots, with the production being very reminiscent of the explosive structure and mindless lyrics about love that most of her older songs have. Provided this is supposed to be her first album as an independent artist, I get what she was trying to do. Maybe relive your past and reclaim it for yourself, turning the genre into your camp-y version, and she pulls it off ... read more
Lorde has created this magnificent, raw, fleshed out album that is definitely a highlight for this year. Although the weakest of Pure Heroine and Melodrama, the album still has its own standouts and highlights which differentiates her from her siblings. Lorde has mentioned that this album would be written in blood, which it really is, with many songs like David, Clearblue and Shapeshifter being such cutthroat and incredibly heart stabbing lyrics. I feel a line she says in Hammer perfectly ... read more
Puberty 2 by Mitski is an indie rock masterpiece full of anger hate and sadness in the world. Mitski ties together each word, each metaphor to a laundry rack of meaning, with her managing to turn the mundane into the most heartbreaking of situations. The difference of each songs production gives each song this personality that may be hard to pull off in my opinion especially with indie rock, but Mitski does it amazingly. Songs like Happy and Your Best American Girl shows off her electric guitar ... read more
