McKinley Dixon - Magic, Alive!
95

This incredibly tongue I cheek album with hilarious bars about family, relationship is perfectly balanced with the layered lyricism that is throughout the album. The production is full of energy and lush, with the soul elements and strings being a key highlight. Lovely!

Little Simz - Lotus
81

Little Simz aggressive, and sometimes satirical lyrics make up for the confusing detours that she takes throughout the album. The production is beautiful jazzfunk, neo soul and the type of hip hop I love, and with the UK Garage elements, makes for a pretty substantial album about hate and betrayal and finding peace within oneself. The lyrics and complicated and layered but something that is really fun to dissect. 2025 has been a great year for rap!

Benson Boone - American Heart
3

Absolutely doesn't processed and spat out is exactly how this album sounds, it sounds incredibly manufactured, soulless with shallow and bored lyrics. The album lacks nuance is too overly processed vocally and it such a dense and uninteresting piece of work. Provided he wrote this in 17 days anyone can clearly tell, his voice seems to be his only selling point here, with him reminiscing about every happy and sad moment of his life with the same monotone voice. Incredibly boring, put ... read more

Caroline Polachek - On the Beach
100

This is the best song I've ever heard, the atmosphere is amazing, capturing you in a space between water, sky and sand. Absolutely enthralling, and it weighs you down enough for you to feel trapped by the sounds cape she has created. Incredible vocal flipping. Song of the year, might be her best song

Addison Rae - Addison
83

Addison Rae. What do you associate her name with? Upon hearing the name "Addison Rae", do you immediately pivot to the cringey, mind-numbing memes and the viral TikTok dances and skits, or the up-and-coming pop star who has reinvented herself into something more personal, more retro, more fitting? Yes, although the former is something that will continue to plague her name, her eponymous debut album is sure to mellow it down. We've truly come so far from "Hi Drated!". ... read more

Miley Cyrus - Something Beautiful
100

Something Beautiful is the best left turn any artist has ever taken into their career with Miley Cyrus turning in this Pop Rock epic as one if the best albums I have ever heard from a pop star and may be my favourite album of the year. The production is glittery and dirty, reminding me of ABBA or mostly 80s hits production, but elevated. The songs are incredibly catchy and the lyricism is some of Miley's best ever. The album starts off with Prelude which is a beautiful and cinematic ... read more

HAIM - I quit
72

This HAIM record sounds like a worse version of Rumours by Fleetwood Mac. The lyricism keeps revolving around their relationships, thought they do compliment the production well, all pretty ordinary. The production feels incredibly energetic, reminding me of some songs from WIMPT3 but the melodies lack the catchiness that that album had. Lyrics are substandard or alright at best with some songs having strange production choices reminiscent of Stay Stay Stay by Taylor Swift. It has substance, it ... read more

Lorde - Hammer
100

Lordes new single is a throbbing climax and a stunning look into herself

yeule - Evangelic Girl is a Gun
NR

I Elly enjoyed this yeule album and I love that they had leaned into this more grunge rock production. The lyrics are really interesting and I think the whole vibe of the album is just very sparkly and in your face most of the time which I really like. Although not as intricate as serotonin ii, their voice really shines through too with this style!

Lorde - Man Of The Year
100

Lorde curates a beautiful and introspective song about letting go and how she has transformed and shaped her gender identity in response to that. The music evolved into a climatic thrash and bash that is ultimately beautiful, possibly transcending the fact that she has realised who she is. Thank you Lorde. Thank you Jim E Stack

Kali Uchis - Sincerely,
90

Very gorgeous and lush. It does great at what it set out to do

Kesha - Gag Order
76

Kesha tries to flesh out her innocence and most experimental side of her that we've ever seen. With more edgy lyrics that do lead us to contemplate, some songs have strange production choices or lack production. It is really solid tho and OLCUN

André 3000 - 7 piano sketches
20

nothing interesting at all

PinkPantheress - Fancy That
100

PInkPanthress is back with bop after bop. The glittery production adds to the carefree romantic, lustful themes that she is going for. AOTY!

Tate McRae - Revolving door

Liz Phair's unfiltered lyricism and rough voice that sounds like Fiona Apple makes a great base template for this album. Paired with her brooding for love, really filthy thoughts about sex, small details in life and heartbreak make it the perfect layer breakdown of any young person's life. Paired with the moody production that turns electric guitars into this lofi key player, Liz Phair shows us why the public had an eye on her in the 2000s. A perfect record balanced with emotion, ... read more

Bladee - Ste the Beautiful Martyr 1st Attempt
60

I cannot stand this guy's voice and the lyrics kinda corny but the production is good

Grimes - Miss Anthropocene
90

Return to sender. Grimes seems to have rediscovered what Visions was to her before art angels, which seems like a darker and deeper mess that deviates from the perfection that art angels maintained. Grimes tells an incredibly loose story about climate change that is easily drowned out by dark-pop experimental chaos. But is this bad? no. Grimes manages to capture you in her world-building once again, with the layered synths and drum machines begging to you for attention. Although this album is ... read more
