Honestly I'm a bit disappointed in this. Veldt came up randomly on autoplay while I was listening to other stuff and it instantly intrigued me for its industrial production and strange shifting beats. However I checked out the rest of the album and it was nothing like that song at all, it was like this weird ambient stuff that is a little bit too avant-garde for my taste. The only song that came close to the strangeness of Veldt was Sold As but I didn't like that one at all, and ... read more
This is beyond incredible. A week ago I had absolutely 0 clue who born gold was and now after one album I can certifiably say I am obsessed, as this is by far the quickest album to receive a 100 from me. The fact that this album was made in 2011 is WILD, because it sounds ridiculously modern, like something that would have been made in the 2020 hyperpop craze, and yet it's nearly a decade early, AND better than EVERYTHING released in that phase. God damn. Every single song here is so ... read more
Finally... finally I have listened to every Iglooghost project. Ironically, I started off with Clear Tamei, around half a decade ago, and it absolutely blew my mind. It took me a while before I really got into everything else by Iglooghost, but eventually I finally did, and now I can finally close it off with Steel Mogu. What can I say about Steel Mogu? It's really good! I'd say Clear Tamei is definitely the better one of the two sister EPs, but that also may be my own bias having sat ... read more
Very solid electro pop here. I don't think there is anything SUPER revolutional, there's not really any one song that really tickles my brain, but it makes up for that in also not having any misses. A really really consistently good album, but not super standout. But thats okay!
Okay so, I have known this album for a while now, I streamed the song "Become a mountain" once it came out, and it took me another year to stream the full album, but now after a couple years, I can certifiably say that this is one of my favourite albums of all time now. Like, I did really really enjoy it when it came out, but over time I have just grown to love it more and more and more. I think the way I take in music is when I find something I really really like, I obsess over it ... read more
Andy Stott's debut album is nothing particularly bad, but definitely very, very forgettable. Definitely an artist who's work improves over time.
So, yeule's first two albums are among my favourite albums of all time for their ambient/glitchy atmosphere and vibe. However in this one they transfer into shoegaze/alt rock which unfortunately does lack that vibe their first two albums have, and is also generally pretty far from what I usually listen to, so naturally, I'm not into it as much. But still, I do strongly appreciate this for what it is and agree that it is made incredibly well. But god I'd kill for them to go back ... read more
I'm finally going through JACKIE's back catalogue, and I have to admit, this was better than I expected! I had previously listened to some songs off of this album and didn't really care for them, so I wasn't expecting to enjoy this at all but I have ended up decently surprised. I absolutely do think she's gotten better overtime- ONYX and the fire inside are definitely better than this, but this is still rather interesting. I think this albums biggest flaw is that a lot ... read more
This is really fun and catchy! "How To Pretend" is handily my favourite but honestly all of the songs are pretty good. A very neat lil EP.
This is a solid album, though definitely not one of TOKiMONSTA's better albums imo. It feels roughly the same as her last album, Oasis Nocturno, which was also already a step down from Lune Rouge, although Lune Rouge was definitely her magnum opus so it's kind of hard to achieve those heights again. That being said, this was still good, although I do miss that era of TOKiMONSTA, though. TOKiMONSTA has always been a very big collaborator, with most of her albums especially in the past ... read more
This was really great! I loved the explosive nature of the songs here, they were all very very fun and very satisfying. "do you even think about me" was easily my favourite, this one is adrenaline pumping, but "sugar water cyanide" and "tears in my pocket" were also major standouts for me for their fun deco club adjacent production. Overall this was an excellent little album!
This little EP packs a really major punch! The songs here are very densely textured, and very fast, and everything is caked in reverb and echoes, and it always works really well for all 5 tracks here. If you like really loud and confusing music that you can't even remotely understand what the singer is saying, this is absolutely for you. My absolute favourite track here is "Misty!", as the build on that song is the most impressive to me, although both "Nurse!" and ... read more
This album is pretty good! It's very intense and in your face, and Patricia's music is generally like that, but this one I felt it even more so that her other releases. Sometimes I think that is to the detriment of the album, particularly in the first half, but once you get used to it, the songs in the second half are extremely good! My personal favourites have got to be "THECREATURE" by a mile, which has a fantastic progression, especially in the second half, and ... read more
This is a really fascinating and dense album. It's definitely not NEARLY as good as tarot sport, but it's still pretty solid. I will say though, sometimes it does get a little bit monotonous. Overall a good listen though, brain freeze and hidden x's are the best 2 songs here.
This is FANTASTIC. This is such a fascinating find. The textures and the hypnotic pop structure of the songs here are truly fantastic. Every single song feels like it provides something to the overall album. Everything is very dizzy and disorienting, the chaotic beats and the almost aimless sounding vocals work in its favor so well to make a sound that is so cohesive and so incredible. These songs are all so ear-wormy to me. This thing is truly a hidden gem. I'll just talk about my ... read more
I've heard what boys noize is capable of, and this is a complete lack of that. The only song I got any enjoyment out of was "Girl Crush" everything else was either painfully mid or really annoying to listen to. This is unfortunate.
This is a pretty solid album from Patricia, definitely far from her best though. I wouldn't say it's super memorable, but it does have its good moments.
I tried to give this a chance, but it really just feels like B-sides to their last album, Put The Shine On. It doesn't feel like they've evolved in any way since then, and generally I am okay with artists sticking to their lane and doing the same sort of things over and over, but they have to at least keep the quality up, and they just don't here- the songs here are nowhere near as engaging to me as Put The Shine On, with the exception of Cut Stitch Scar, which I find to be a ... read more
