This feels like Grimes but slightly more industrial. It's kinda fascinating, I am intrigued. "Trust Me" is the best song on here, followed by "Combat" and "Catch Yourself". Masochism is apparently the most popular which surprises me because I find it to be the worst one? The beat feels really stale to me on that one. Overall though this is a good project.
This actually goes super hard. I enjoy break music but I've never been super huge on it, but I totally understand it with femtanyl now cause these songs are just so... fun, and like... effortlessly cool. KATAMARI is absolutely KILLER, MURDER EVERY 1 U KNOW! is the most like... effortlessly cool song I've hear in a while, and all the other songs are great too! This is just so much fun
I want to like this so badly. I really do. There so much interesting sound design here, really great industrial and electronic production, but the actual cohesivity is severely lacking. The songs nearly all feel like one off experiments that don't have any actual structure to them, and with a tracklist this long it just makes the whole project feel SEVERELY bloated. I want to like this but I just can't get into it because of that.
This album is excellent! While it's not my favourite Vylet Pony album (that goes to fish whisperer with ease), it's right up there solidly in second place. There's so many extremely fun and vibrant tracks here scattered throughout. It also manages to remain surprisingly consistent throughout. I like the first half more than the second half, but it never feels like it drops off in quality at any point, which is insanely impressive for an album comprised of 19 songs. Overall this ... read more
This lil EP is okay. It's some fairly interesting nightcore, but despite the run time the album does kinda slow down over time. The first song "Baby" is absolutely nutty, and easily my favourite on this album, but the rest doesn't really feel like it lives up to it.
I found this to be...! just fine. unfortunate! I really adored their debut album Caravelle, and I was expecting nothing too different here, and these definitely weren't much different, but I also didn't find them nearly as captivating as their debut album. "Magic" and "Ani Kuni" I really enjoyed. "Peter Pan" and "Bilboquet (Sirba)" I really disliked. Everything else fell somewhere in between, leaning towards "it's fine". Oh well.
This album is really great! Mostly. The first half is full of electro pop BANGERS, 3.14159, and MAGICIAN especially steal the show here- Absolutely killer production and incredible vocals. The songs "dance dance", "GANMA", and "MIRA" are also particularly nice as well. However in the second half, things do fall off for a bit, the stretch of "Gaia" to "RRR" is definitely the weakpoint of this album, but it does pick it up with a fairly solid ... read more
This is a pretty solid album! It's not anything particularly special, but it does the job well. This album is heavily carried up by the songs "Asking For A Friend" and "How Not To Drown", I feel they are the two standouts here compared to everything else. Everything else ranges from pretty solid to just alright.
Honestly, this is just a really nice collection of synth pop. They fit right in with the catalogue of like... CHVRCHES and Grimes (art angels era) and etc. Maybe not as good as their best work, but none of these songs are bad at all, I really enjoy them!
Brief overview- I love it!
Eusexua and Drums Of Death are my two favourites. These two songs are specifically tailored for me I'd say. The beat in Eusexua is my absolute favourite kind of beat, just airy with some sort of ambience behind it, and then the semi rapid notes in the background also hit perfectly. Drums Of Death features fantastic glitched out vocal chops that remind me of death's dynamic shroud's "I'll Try Living Like This" which is one of my favourite ... read more
Go listen to "Alice" by arai tasuku. It is what this album is trying to go for, but way better. This one unfortunately just does not come together very well but I appreciate the attempt
This album is really neat! It's a fairly short album, but it packs a lot into its runtime. Sometimes the songs feel more like unfinished ideas and concepts, but even these unfinished ideas and concepts are still really fascinating and satisfying to listen to. Also, the actual fully realized songs here such as "air" and "circuit" (but especially air) really blow me away! So this album ends up being really really good!
This appears to be one of Daedelus' most popular albums, as Daedelus' top 10 "Popular" songs on his spotify are four from this album- the most out of any album, but I found this album to be soooo incredibly dull, they all just feel like background music that doesn't go anywhere to me. I don't know if this is just a me thing, since the critic reviews for this seem to lean positively, or if this album just has not aged well, but I just don't really have any ... read more
This album is... a mixed bag. There's a lot I really like here, and a lot I REALLY DON'T. Let's start with what I like. The beats here are very strange and abstract. They're very experimental and strange, and they tend to hit for me. My personal favourite (by a mile) is "Teen Paranormal Romance", but "Very Large Green Triangles" also hits as well. What I don't like however, is the vocals. Any time there is vocals, it is usually a negative experience ... read more
I am rating this a 70 for now, but I have a feeling it will grow on me with more time. This is a very fascinating album, that reminds me heavily of "Silent Shout" by The Knife, which is fairly obvious because Fever Ray is one half of that duo, but even so, the production just is the same and it has the same sort of wistful feeling to it. That album took a while to grow on me, so I think this one will too. Regardless, my three favourites are "When I Grow Up", "If I Had A ... read more
Instant stimulation: The album
This album has been on my radar for a while, but for whatever reason, I always kept pushing it off. I sorely regret that now, because this album is absolutely fantastic! Every single song is so instantly gratifying, there's so many cool textures that are just so in your face, and the patterns they are arranged in are endlessly enjoyable. Shoutouts to my top two, "The Crying Pill" and "Thermoplastic Riot Shield". Both of these take this ... read more
Rainbow Road by Patricia Taxxon is.... pretty decent. Definitely not some of her most memorable work, but considering this is sort of an extension or sequel to "Traveller" I think it improves upon that by all fronts. Everything on Traveller felt like background music. Not bad, just forgettable. While I'm still not huge on the stuff here, it is definitely more gripping to me, even if still not the most interesting.
This is really nice IDM! Even though it's not anything particularly special, the beats on display here are very very nice, and really engaging to me! In particular, my top two songs are "Flat Faded", which is an extremely warpy and confusing, and almost feels like dreaming and being awake at the same time, and not being able to tell what's real and what isn't, in a slightly unnerving, but mostly fascinating way, like sort of exploring. Then my other favourite is ... read more
This is really great! I think this takes the spot of being my favourite Kikuo album of the ones I've listened to so far by a hair (which is only three, but still). This thing just has consistently great beats and really glitched out production, and a lot of really fun melodies. It rarely leaves me bored. Favourite songs have got to be MAWARU, which has one of the greatest releases of energy I've heard in a long time in the second half, followed by the fourth track, which is straight ... read more
Wow, this is really fascinating! This is my third Gazelle Twin album and this feels like a true midpoint between the other two. The Entire City was a much more subdued art pop album, while Pastoral goes heavy on the experimental and industrial sides, while this feels like both Industrial and Art Pop at the same time. It's more subdued than Pastoral's absolute rage, but it still has some deeply sinister vibes to it, like a stray dog that's calm- for now. Top 3 highlights are for ... read more
