Wow, after highly enjoying kick i, I had my hopes up for this one and I was unfortunately let down. This honestly feels like kick i B-Sides... unfortunately. The start of the album seemed pretty promising, the reggaeton songs in the first half were overall the highlight and generally pretty solid but the album takes a dive off a cliff once it gets to lethargy with- and I can't believe I'm saying this- Arca's most boring songs to date.
I am not sure where to begin with this one, but I am at a complete loss for how incredible this album is. I think it is insanely cool when we get artists that are fairly firmly rooted in experimental/electronic music, transition into pop music for an album. I often find that these kinds of albums typically become my favourites of all time- electro pop is so incredibly oversaturated with the same kinds of songs and sounds, that it often becomes really dull and stale, but these kinds of electro ... read more
Getting through some of the other PC Music projects now, and this was wonderfully enjoyable! This fits in insanely well with the rest of PC Music's catalogue, especially I feel like this is extremely similar to Hannah Diamond's work, particularly her stuff off of Reflections. Overall not my favourite PC Music output but it had several really cool songs and I would re-visit it.

Ehhh. Unfortunately I'm just not feeling one. I feel like this goes a bit more experimental than other Blank Banshee material but due to the song lengths being so short, it's really hard for me to get into any of the songs, unlike his more IDM stuff. So unfortunately it was a bit of a miss for me.
Yikes. I mean Holly's stuff has always been very hit or miss for me, but this was just massive miss after massive miss for me. I found next to none of it appealing whatsoever, and it actively hurt listening to a lot of it. I guess that's kind of its purpose, to make you uncomfortable, but the sounds on here I just find so incredibly ugly and just make me want to turn it off. Whatever audience this is trying to target, I am far removed from it.
I was going into this album honestly not expecting much. However, this blew me away and quickly became my favourite World's End Girlfriend album (at least... of the three I've listened to now). Resistance & The Blessing had the highs, but had 0 consistency. Hurtbreak Wonderland had the consistency, but was lacking in highs. This has both highs and consistency. I found the sound on this thing genuinely incredible and moving, so much so that it's a shame that it seems to be one of his least ... read more
Onto Arca Project #7, we have the first of the kick series, kick i! I think this album is fantastic, and it's definitely my favourite of Arca's discography so far. It manages to really exemplify everything that makes Arca a unique and exciting artist, basically every sound that she's ever done is represented here, and yet it manages to remain a wonderfully cohesive experience through and through. I think for anyone just starting with Arca, this is the album to give to them. Not to mention the ... read more
Ahh, Caravan Palace. I've known about this group for a long time, but they've generally always been on the periphery of what I listen to, as in, maybe once a year for the past couple years, I would find a song from them I like, spin it for a bit, then kinda forget about it. I've listened to the uhhh... the face album in full, enjoyed it, but didn't love it, and kinda forgot about them. That tradition is kind of continuing here because once again, I see myself spinning a couple of these songs, ... read more
Onto Arca Project #6. I didn't understand this album for the majority of when I was listening to it. Throughout the my first two listens I was wholly underwhelmed. All of what I thought about nearly every song (except for Desafio) was I like the sound, but I dont love it. So I was really confused because this is one of her most critically acclaimed albums, and yet, I can't understand why I can't get into it. And then I realized. This is Arca's emotional ballad album. It's like the Vulnicura of ... read more
Continuing my Arca Project listen through we have project #5, Mutant. Unfortunately, this project breaks the streak I have of every arca project I've listened to being better than the last, although this one is still decently enjoyable. This album feels sonically similar to Xen- I consider the two to be sisters now, but this one is just much more bloated and less enjoyable to me. There's a lot of tracks that kind of go nowhere and don't amount to anything for me, which unfortunately leads to ... read more
Sorry. But this is so boring. I can see they went in a more chill electronic direction but nothing on this album is really that appealing. I don't find myself disliking any song, but I just don't find myself caring about any either. Brats is the only one that gave me any emotion at all, and that was mild amusement, because it was the best one, mixed with mild annoyance, because if that's supposed to be the climax of the album it was a weak climax. I'm amazed this is so critically acclaimed with ... read more
Hmmmm... I think this album is good but it doesn't have the same highs that other albums such as little dark age & oracular spectacular have. It feels much more chilled out than I'm used to from them, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I find it a bit more difficult to really get into with their production style. I feel like this is the kind of album that really needs to grow on you to truly resonate, so I will not be ranking it and I'll come back in a couple months and re-listen to ... read more
Pretty solid, but not one of my favourites from them unfortunately! I feel like with this album they're in a sort of transitional zone between their vaporwave past and their glitch pop future (not that they ever truly abandoned vaporwave though, they just get more glitch pop oriented with albums such as darklife, faith in persona, midnight tangerine, etc). And the transition here is... significantly better than heavy black heart I must say, but it still takes a bit before they reach more ... read more
Okay, holy crap, I totally get the hype now. I've never heard glitch music be so positive warm and friendly! Every single song here is just so warm and fuzzy and welcoming while managing to stay exceptionally interesting all the way through. I'm absolutely amazed that something like this came out of 2003. Stunning, truly.
TOP 3 SONGS: Fruitcake And Cookies, Dedicated, Dsco
Yeah unfortunately this is highly lacking in.. everything. I've always found Blank Banshee a tad formulaic but it was still always wrapped up with interesting sounds and cool ideas, but this just wasn't. It feels kind of like nothing music. Like, emotionless, but not in a like corporate kind of way, just kind of... nothing? Which kind of sucks. It's not bad, it's just dull. And a lot of the songs here feel unfinished. Take my favourite song, Escape for example. This one actually sets up a ... read more
The Bjork vibes here are extreme. She even has a similar singing style to Bjork to me, which is NOT an easy thing to do. I find her latest album Crux to be more gratifying, but this album still has plenty of beautiful and stunning tracks to it. It's very neatly arranged and comes together really nicely.
TOP 3 SONGS: Keam Theme, Exposure, Shape
This is extremely good. Highly engaging industrial production, the beats on this thing go crazy hard. I wasn't sure what exactly I was expecting but it's very engaging all the way through. I love how we also get some elements of chiptune, not as the main course, but as additional details that add so much to a lot of the songs. It's a unique blend to have with the primarily industrial production that gives the album a unique flair that instantly caught my attention and is highly interesting.

This is the most shygirl shygirl project that she's ever put out. No I don't know what that totally entails. But it's just so fitting for her. Obviously it's not the most crazy innovative groundbreaking thing ever but the beats are fun and groovy and overall it's a really fun dancey vibe.

Unfortunately this is one of the weaker albums in the catalogue of death's dynamic shroud but it's still pretty fun. Also I find it very fascinating and also jarring to hear the original CD Player song. The one on I'll Try Living Like This sounds like an extended cut that is significantly more put together. This one is still good though. The album overall is still decent.
