As memed as this album has become, it is still pretty classic. It falls into sort of the same trap that I feel Madeon's "Adventure" falls into, but I think this album manages to control that better.
TOP 3 SONGS: Goodbye To A World, Fellow Feeling, Divinity
The history behind this album is really fascinating, how she didn't mean for it to exist but began writing the song "Chandelier" for beyonce before it became too personal and then forming into this album. And hey, it slaps. Shoutouts to elastic heart, easily my favourite.
TOP 3 SONGS: Elastic Heart, Fire Meet Gasoline, Chandelier
I absolutely adore the darker more sinister vibe baths has gone for on this EP. It almost feels like a continuation of the themes found on Obsidian, except more condensed. In particular, Ocean Death and Voyeur are the absolute highlights, both are two of my favourite Baths songs of all time. Definitely would recommend to any indietronica fans
This is just such a nothing album to me, most other CocoRosie stuff I know has its hits and its misses, but overall gives me positive emotions. This is just bad folk pop.
Stream Boys X Girls, it slaps, but the other 20 songs are just like. Whatever. Maybe if someones favourite genre of all time was witch house/electro clash this would hit better for them but for me I just don't care.
Idk man... everything Eartheater has done pre-trinity just does not stick with me. It's weird experimental stuff that I feel like doesn't really have a proper direction. Sigil Life is the one track that stuck out to me, but it's basically an interlude, I wish it was more fleshed out. Compared to IRISIRI and RIP Chrysalis I think this one is probably the best of the three but still, I wouldn't recommend.
I think it is pretty nice but honestly, some of the tracks kind of annoy me. Not terribly, but meh. It doesn't really live up to the theme for me, being "adventure" despite honestly kind of staying in a pretty standard electro house lane but hey, there's still a handful of good tracks.
TOP 3 SONGS: Imperium, Nonsense, Pay No Mind
This album has a lot of really interesting things going for it- the intensity of it is especially key. But despite that it fails for me to give me any major "wow" moments. But regardless, quite fascinating, and I'm excited to see the direction she goes in.
TOP 3 SONGS: 1%, Adera, Numen J
It's sort of like a more chilled out version of Butterfly Case, and while I find Butterfly Case to be significantly better overall, this still has some nice sound to it.
Electro Swing is something I certainly never really envisioned existing but hey, it's here, and it's sick.
TOP 3 SONGS: Lone Digger, Comics, Wonderland
The theme of this album is pretty fascinating, I like how it manages to incorporate that into the music. It has a couple duds on the tracklist but that's pretty evened out by there being several really interesting and unique songs.
TOP 3 SONGS: Poly, Moskva, Piany Pianino
It's a wild and messy experience, but not in a bad way. There's just- a lot to take in. The vocals can be offputting to some people but I don't mind them. It's definitely an album that has to grow on you I think though.
TOP 3 SONGS: Those Who Can't, Cheat | Will To Believe | Alive In The Septic Tank
I don't love this as much as most others (and most others who know me would be surprised at that), but it still has some sick stuff. It's a classic for anyone interested in the synthwave sound for sure.
TOP 3 SONGS: Anarchy Road, Turbo Killer, Roller Mobster
The Wolf, and Mr. Fear are KILLER, but nothing else on this album comes close to matching either of them for me.
I guess all I can say is I'm glad I've never really cared about lyrics in music because like it's kind of creepy like jesus. BUt the music itself is pretty interesting.
TOP 3 SONGS: (Do The) Act Like You Never Met Me, Song About Me, Not Allowed
