Crystal Castles - Amnesty (I)

Okay so obviously, Fuck ethan kath 10000x. But this isn't too bad. Not the most interesting, but honestly it still has a couple fabulous songs. I miss Alice though :(
TOP 3 SONGS: Char, Enth, Femen

Nadia Tehran - Life Is Cheap, Death Is Free

Cash Flow is absolutely FIRE! Everything else I don't get into at all.

Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly & James McAlister - Planetarium
63

Sufjan Stevens always has had a very varied discography and this hour and fifteen minute odyssey is no different but I just feel like there's a massive disparity in the quality of the tracks, and while some songs are absolutely fantastic, a lot of this album I find myself falling asleep to.
TOP 3 SONGS: Jupiter, Saturn, .... Black Energy ?

Four Tet - New Energy
64

I feel like in Four Tet's discography, this one sort of falls to the wayside for me. I don't think it's bad, but it's just much more forgettable than some of his other stuff. Well, apart from Two Thousand And Seventeen which is absolutely fire.
TOP 3 SONGS: Two Thousand And Seventeen, Scientists, Planet

Legowelt - Legendary Freaks In The Trash Of Time
66

I has some interesting sounds but not SUPER mind blowing? Still pretty nice though. Axumisia V S612 is really warpy and interesting, definitely my favourite.

Gorillaz - Humanz
70

I strongly believe a lot of the hate this album gets is severely biased. Firstly, this comes after the absolute whopper of Plastic Beach, an album that seemed for a long time to be Gorillaz' last one, not really sure if there would be another one. Once it was revealed that Gorillaz was back, I feel like people had exceptionally heightened expectations because it had been so long that there had to be something interesting cooking up. And there was. but just not in the way that Plastic Beach was, ... read more

Rina Sawayama - RINA
75

Pretty fire honestly. 10-20-40 and Cyber Stockholm Syndrome were definitely my two favs. Definitely one of the uniquest takes on pop music I've personally seen, and I'd recommend this to anyone who says they're a pop fan.

Tirzah - trip9love...???
60

Idk. I don't hate it, I dont even dislike any of these tracks. But the entire thing just feels kind of lukewarm. I like many of the elements of these songs, but I get absolutely no wow factor from anything, not even a "hey that's kind of neat" factor, just, it's... fine. Maybe a slight dislike for the trap beats, but beyond that it's fine.

underscores - Wallsocket
62

Hate on me. I think it's pretty good glitch pop for the most part but ugh... some of the fucking vocal loops particularly on johnny and you don't even know who I am get so, so grating to me. Uncanny long arms is definitely a personal favourite of mine though, that was sick.

Vessel - Queen of Golden Dogs
75

It is fascinating for sure. Absolutely unique, wild experimental electronic shit, and I feel like I should enjoy it more cause this kind of stuff is RIGHT up my alley but it just doesn't fully hit the mark for me, and I can't quite place why.
TOP 3 SONGS: Paplu Love that Moves the Sun, Fantasma (For Jasmine), Argo (For Maggie)

Oneohtrix Point Never - The Station
85

These tracks are actually really nice. The Station is already one of my Favourite OPN songs of all time, but Monody and Blow By Blow are also pretty interesting listens and could have found themself on Age Of pretty well honestly, I'm not really sure why they didn't.

Eartheater - Irisiri
43

It's weird and unique in a way that just does not jive with me at all. Eartheater's sound is really only appealing Trinity onwards. Sorry!

Ecco2k - E
67

Cloud rap gone right. Although not the best, but still decently interesting.
TOP 3 SONGS: AAA Powerline, Peroxide, Calcium

Magdalena Bay - mini mix vol. 1
71

Nothinnggggggg babbyyyyy one of my fav mag bay tracks. other than that it's fine.

Madeon - Good Faith
71

I like it! I think this type of electronic music is a bit too easy-listening for my brain to get particularly captivated by but it still comes together as a pretty nice listen.
TOP 3 SONGS: Mania, Nirvana, All My Friends

Caroline Polachek - Pang
72

I quite enjoy a handful of songs on this album, but not THAT much.
TOP 3 SONGS: Ocean Of Tears, Go As A Dream, Hey Big Eyes

80

I loveeeee this album, definitely my favourite, though I think everyone would disagree with me. Definitely the scariest too. I will say, that last song is... certainly an... interesting choice........... but man this has some of my favourite sewerslvt tracks and the freaky as fuck ambience here is not matched by any of her other stuff.
TOP 3 SONGS: Death & Humanity, Lolibox, Rsod

SALEM - Fires in Heaven
53

This kind of frustrates me because I love witch house but the TRAP BEATS just completely take me out of it. I love starfall, but kind of hate everything else.

Gorillaz - Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez
55

I am a hater, this is probably my least fav album of theirs, and I know I'm totally making a massive hot take but whatever

Rone - Room with a View
60

I just kind of find it much more uninspiring than some of his other work. Still has a couple of nice songs but overall the sound does not draw me in. Ginkgo Biloba is especially the best one though.

"absolutely stellar review"
On Sega Bodega - Dennis
"Yeah exactly. In Sega's music, he tends to embrace a really feminine side of being a man through both the production and the lyrics, which is much more typical of LGBT artists since this music and the themes tends to habit a more gender fluid space associated with the LGBT (part of the reason why I like it cause I'm gay lol). Ultimately to me it doesn't really matter if he is straight or not, the music is incredible, it was just kind of surprising lmaooo"

"no problem and ofc yeah, she was one of the first queer people that I really looked up to and made me feel comfy in my own body as a queer person so it hit really hard but I take solace in the fact that I am not the only one she impacted in that way with her work"
On BaddieBaphomet's review of SOPHIE - OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES
"god when you talked about the day sophie died it brought me right back to that too cause that was also the very first thing I saw when I woke up. I remember back then it was the height of covid so I was sleeping in absurdly late so I woke up just to go to the washroom and checked my phone and that was the first thing I saw and I was so shocked to the core that I could not fall back to sleep whatsoever. Also glad you mentioned Um Um as that has become one of my fav songs of all time and is one of the only ones that is able to consistently make me tear up LOL. Also want to mention Lost Everything by A.G. Cook & EasyFun (and Remi Wolf on vocals) off of their latest album cause that was also dedicated to her, it's another one that really hits me to the core. Really loved this writeup thank you a ton, from one queer person to another <3"
