Hatchie - Giving The World Away
70

Yeah it's very nice! I wasn't sure about this one because shoegaze isn't a genre I typically enjoy too much but this beat my expectations. Very satisfying listen.
TOP 3 SONS: Quicksand, The Rhythm, Giving The World Away

Röyksopp - Profound Mysteries III
71

Of the trio of Profound Mysteries I find this one to be the worst. Though, it still isn't bad. But also, I used to say the 1st was the worse but it grew on me after time. So I might just have to let this one do that as well. We'll see though.
TOP 3 SONGS: Like An Old Dog, Me&Youphoria, Stay Awhile

LustSickPuppy - AS HARD AS YOU CAN
75

I mean jesus fucking christ. Horny female death grips is the best way I can describe this EP. It's nuts.
TOP SONGS: HORNIEST SONG EVER, BOY DESTROYER

Flume - Palaces
75

I think this is my favourite Flume album, but it definitely took me several listens to grow on me. It also helps that a handful of the collaborators are also artists I know and love already. Flume has never been one of the most interesting artists on my radar but this was still very nice.
TOP 3 SONGS: Say Nothing, Highest Building, Sirens

GHOST - I HAD TO DIE TO SURVIVE
78

This is pretty sick. Not the greatest thing out there but I really like it.
TOP SONGS: I HAD TO DIE TO SURVIVE, I DON'T KNOW

Daedelus - Xenopocene
70

This album is funny to me because 10 of the 11 songs I find fine, but nothing particularly great. And then there's Lightness - Day 10k which is one of the coolest and mind bending electronic tracks I've ever heard in my life. It is so sick, and 100% brings up this album a ton. But the album overall is not all that.

Clark - Sus Dog
70

This album could have been so much better but his vocals are fucking terrible, they're like whiny and don't really sound on pitch at times, which sucks because a lot of the songs here could have been really incredible! But it just kind of fucks with me because I hate the vocals. Still finding stuff to enjoy though even if that brings it down for me.
TOP 3 SONGS: Town Crank, Alyosha, Over Empty Streets

Magdalena Bay - mini mix vol. 3
70

This is the kind of stuff Grimes would be making right now if she didn't go completely off the fucking deep end. That being said, it's pretty solid.
TOP 3 SONGS: 2 wheel drive, tonguetwister, top dog

IAMX - Fault Lines¹
68

Didn't love it like I have with some of his other work, but it was still pretty nice. Thanatos and Radical Self-Love are my personal favourites.

M83 - Fantasy
65

I have nothing to say about this really. It doesn't really have any new or unique sounds, but it's not bad. Idk man, grasping at straws for something to say here. Title track is my fav though.

Snow Strippers - April Mixtape 3
64

Yeah, 100% see the Crystal Castles inspiration here. But honestly they don't really do anything special or new with that sounds. It feels more stripped back, more dulled down, which I guess isn't bad, but doesn't click with me nearly as much as crystal castles did. But I can absolutely see why everyone loves it.

Brutalismus 3000 - ULTRAKUNST
62

It's pretty interesting techno stuff. But I wish there was a bit more variety. is u chemical and cry b3b3 are pretty good though.

Fakear - Talisman
61

Yeah I don't really have anything to say about this album. It's fine! It doesn't grip me. Ghosts is a nice song, definitely my favourite, but beyond that I don't get too much out of it. But I'm not hating it.

Ligeti Quartet & Anna Meredith - Nuc
58

I feel kind of bad because Anna Meredith is like, maybe my favourite artist of all time, and her two albums Varmints and FIBS are among my favourite albums of all time, but this album just kind of does not do much for me. Half of it is classical remixes of stuff of her first two albums, and half of it is a mix of classical and electronic genres, and it's like... fine... but doesn't do anything new for me.

51

This album is like. What? This ranking would be significantly lower because all of the actually new tracks are shit (except revelations) but the ones that Kim has previously released (such as brrr, well, mainly brrr) are really nice, which brings it up to just barely positive for me. But the rest of it is such bland electro pop.

Cornelius - 夢中夢 -Dream In Dream-
46

Maybe I'm just not the kind of person this music is really aimed towards but I just don't care.

Pearly Drops - A Little Disaster
43

Literally everything sounds the same here, and it feels like they didn't change a single thing from their debut album, it's the same sound, no evolution at all, and the tracks there are a lot better too.

Lauren Bousfield - Salesforce
33

Idk. I don't like this album, it's definitely my least favourite by lauren, including her stuff as NDAD. It just doesn't really bring anything new for me and feels kind of devoid of emotion. I was really excited for this but it really let me down.

KOAN Sound - Led by Ancient Light
60

I wish I could get into this. I really do. It sounds nice. But nothing particularly grips me. It just doesn't click with me, I don't know why. Maybe I'll come back in a couple months and see if it does then.

On Sega Bodega - Dennis
"Yeah exactly. In Sega's music, he tends to embrace a really feminine side of being a man through both the production and the lyrics, which is much more typical of LGBT artists since this music and the themes tends to habit a more gender fluid space associated with the LGBT (part of the reason why I like it cause I'm gay lol). Ultimately to me it doesn't really matter if he is straight or not, the music is incredible, it was just kind of surprising lmaooo"

"no problem and ofc yeah, she was one of the first queer people that I really looked up to and made me feel comfy in my own body as a queer person so it hit really hard but I take solace in the fact that I am not the only one she impacted in that way with her work"

"god when you talked about the day sophie died it brought me right back to that too cause that was also the very first thing I saw when I woke up. I remember back then it was the height of covid so I was sleeping in absurdly late so I woke up just to go to the washroom and checked my phone and that was the first thing I saw and I was so shocked to the core that I could not fall back to sleep whatsoever. Also glad you mentioned Um Um as that has become one of my fav songs of all time and is one of the only ones that is able to consistently make me tear up LOL. Also want to mention Lost Everything by A.G. Cook & EasyFun (and Remi Wolf on vocals) off of their latest album cause that was also dedicated to her, it's another one that really hits me to the core. Really loved this writeup thank you a ton, from one queer person to another <3"
