It's like if Daft Punk went indie. I just. I cant get into anything here. I dont think it's bad, I just dont care in the slightest.
Really really sick pop album, don't have much to say beyond that, it just comes together really nicely.
TOP 3 SONGS: Reborn, Do It, Atletico
This is modern, perfected synth pop. This is exactly the direction I want to hear this genre go in, and it makes me incredibly excited for whatever Magdalena Bay is going to come up with next.
TOP 3 SONGS: Chaeri, You Lose!, Dreamcatching
It's really nice. Not near his best work for me, but it still has a great selection of tunes I heavily enjoy.
TOP 3 SONGS: Eclipse/Blue, Glue, Safe
Yeah it's a good house record. It still feels like the chemical brothers, I don't have any major positives to give to it other than just "I enjoy it it's nice"
TOP 3 SONGS: For That Beautiful Feeling, Live Again, The Darkness That You Fear
Honestly when I first heard this album I kind of was disappointed and didn't get anything out of it. I ended up relistening during a particularly tumultuous month in my life and... it helped. It's very much a sad album, but not in a very traditional way. It's very ambient and pretty, and feels more like something there to comfort you rather than an album to listen to for fun.
TOP 3 SONGS: The Mourning Sun, If You Want Me, Impossible
Incredibly tranquil album, I love it. The progression of the album is really cool too, we start out with more micro house beats and slowly transition into ambience. I feel like the ambience isn't the most interesting out there but still, it's a really nice listen.
TOP 3 SONGS: Romantics, School, Insect Near Piha Beach
I feel like Kavinsky and Carpenter Brut, both artists with similar styles, roots in synthwave, and INCREDIBLY critically acclaimed albums both randomly decided to go a more chiller synthwave vibe rather than the regular intensity we are used to, both within the span of a month of each other. And to be honest the Kavinsky one is way better tbh this one is like fine... but meh.
TOP 3 SONGS: Stabat Mater, Day Stalker, The Widow Maker (THIS ONE COULD HAVE BEEN MY #1 but the vocalist was honestly ... read more
Rap is not a genre that I am usually into but this is satisfying to my ears.
TOP 3 SONGS: Hacker, Get Got, Hustle Bones
I really like this album, not as much as II, but it's definitely my second favourite. I feel like they went for a more refined sound for the most part (apart from insulin that song is shit), which leads to less major standouts than their earlier work but it comes together really well still for me.
TOP 3 SONGS: Violent Youth, Plague, Transgender
I think it's a pretty good album. But honestly, *not* one of my fav OPN albums. I think he has better. But I've seen nearly all OPN fans exclaim this (or replica) is their fav, and I can see why, because it is still really interesting, but I prefer the vibes of Garden Of Delete much more.
It's nice. Rone has definitely improved since his debut but it is still pretty good vibes and has some classic tracks.
TOP 3 SONGS: Tasty City, Aya Ama, La Dame Blanche
Not the best Andy Stott album in my opinion, but it still has a great collection of tracks in his typical style.
TOP 3 SONGS: Selfish, Butterflies, First Night
Why do people not like this?? Genuinely surprising for me. Sure, it's not as good as the other stuff within this genre but honestly it still has some really nice shit? I'd recommend this album to anyone who's a fan of oneohtrix point never
TOP 3 SONGS: Tearless, Going, Aca
THIS is prime Kim Petras for me honestly. This comes together so well and it's just overall a really freaking great album. 100% the prime halloween album out there.
TOP 3 SONGS: There Will Be Blood, Massacre, Close Your Eyes
idk.... I'm just disappointed in the direction kim is going in her career. I guess it's more consistent than feed the beast but feed the beast at least had like 2 songs I cared about while this has 0, and I don't value consistency as much as most other people do anyways.
