It's a bit overindulgent in its runtime, but this is genuinely some of the most impressive not just thrash metal, but metal in general that I've heard in my life
EDIT: who said this was overindulgent in its runtime what a short attention span retard
I can't lie this might be my favourite metal album of the 80s; its influence on death metal is undeniable- it is arguably THE most influential death metal album out there, but what matters is how it holds up today, and it stands shoulder to shoulder with the best thrash albums of the same decade. Simply an incredible album
You're telling me between '70 and '72 they not only invented a whole massively successful genre, but also put out 4 records which would go on to be 4 of the best in the genre 50 years on?? Fuck me
Maturing is realising Graduation always actually was that good. The first 6 tracks are perfection; uplifting, insanely produced bliss, and barry bonds fits this arena filling sound. Drunk and hot girls is out of place, but the slower midsection of this album is filled with some absolutely gorgeous sounding songs (everything i am, i wonder). This album is epic, uplifting, and despite not keeping up the 10/10s consistently of the first 6 track run, holy shit is this near perfect. A 100 might be ... read more
Can I first say, even if I didn't love this album, the jazz rap production is STUNNING and I'm glad this is receiving the glaze it is
I wonder if have a nice life were one of the people who received the original CD
Been a while since an album was so good I've looped it more than once after a first listen
EDIT(i have more to say): I don't really like melodic death metal, the name itself is oxymoronic given melodic is the exact opposite of what death metal should be. And my homeboy Punisher listens to a lot of this shit, and most of it sounds very similar, (some of it's garbage, but mostly it sounds the same), but what it misses is the heaviness.
This is an issue I take with the majority of ... read more
I don't remember what this snubbed at the grammy's, but it's not an awful snub icl
I didn't like this wjen I first got into grindcore, and idk why
It's a bit long, maybe I was comparing it to pig destroyer too much, but this is fire
(Remind me to give this another shot at some point)
Idk at what point you're doing too much, but it's probably a while before you get here
EDIT: Can confirm I relistened and fell asleep; it's blackened death metal yk i don't think that's a good thing. What i caught still sounded fine
It's a kind of heaviness I'm not used to; normally I listen to heavy music and I want it to be dark and grimy and raw, or thick and sludgy and overbearing, and normally when it's not it feels too cleanly produced and just doesn't hit for me. But this is different. This is like crushing heaviness on a scale I haven't really experienced, it's like the weight of a whale or of a planet just overbearing and crushing you, it feels heavy on a much grander, much more ... read more
This is the least grindcore I've ever heard in a grindcore album
It feels generic even though I can't think of anything that sounds like it
