One of his best. Delectable synth sounds, irresistible vocal melody, relatable lyrics. If you ain't busy for the next seven minutes, throw this on.
As professionally executed as can be, but something here feels unignorably hollow. Silk Sonic at least had its sly sense of humor to temper the cloying sweetness and earnest soul cliches that Bruno tends to employ. Without any spare sense of edge (or at least some undeniable tunes in its tracklist) 'The Romantic' feels disposable. Now I wanna listen to some WAR.
First half is terrific, gentle, rustic and witty, with Bill's dad-humor approach to wordplay only being honed as he moves further into fatherhood. "Is this creativity, or pathology? Am I the Pathol O.G.?" might be cause for an eye-roll among certain listeners, but for me, that's just good ol Bill. And anyway, he still brings it home by winding that song down with a nice refrain relating to Jacob's Ladder, "Lay that ladder down, boy, and get across (a ... read more
Great for when you’re at the gym while transgender.
I work at an indie movie theater and decided to throw this on as lobby music during a lull in business. I think this was my first full uninterrupted listen of 'Timely!!' in a couple years; hasn't lost an ounce of its luster. This is an elite bad day cure right here. Almost incomparable in that regard. It's impossible to *not* be delighted by these songs. Even when Anri's lyrics speak of regret and melancholic nostalgia, the music remains overwhelmingly bright and ... read more
Nice sound, smooth production, let down by so-so songwriting and the crippling sense of anonymity that has hampered every Brent Faiyaz project I’ve yet heard. This is handily the most I’ve enjoyed his music to date, but I still have no handle on what is supposed to make Brent stand out as an artist.
Less dynamic and more forceful than their last record, another absolute ripper to throw on the pile. Never expected anything less from the goats if I'm honest.
Couple of really bad songs in the second half but I still find his schtick to be really quite endearing. I didn't mind this.
"Look here, Marsha, I'm not sayin' this just to be nasty
I sincerely wanna fuck the taste out of your mouth

This guy truly was one of one wasn't he? The opening instrumental of "Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)" wouldn't sound out of place over a Donkey Kong Country water stage, The towering chorus synths on "Little Red Corvette" make for one of Prince's stickiest hooks ever, and "Let's Pretend ... read more
Not much to discuss if you're giving this record your fullest attention, but this is some legitimately great background music. 'Katzenmusik' at a low volume with a good book? Hell of a vibe.
For the first few listens this was slamming right up to the guardrails of being too annoying, but after several more spins this is obviously one of her best songs so far. Can't wait for the album!
Album art is unironically AND ironically awesome. Lovely illustration, would award it many updoots on are slash ThePack :^)
The music is a Megadeth album in 2026. “The Last Note” was good. Immediately following it (and capping off Megadeth’s entire discography) with a mediocre cover of a classic Metallica track that he co-wrote back in the 80s was… a choice.
Still solid, but the highlights are a little dimmer this time around. One of many qualities that made Zach's last pair of records so special was a newfound ability to edit himself. That's not as present here.
I actually like this considerably more than Prince’s self-titled from the following year. That second album opens with two stone-cold classics (that handily outclass anything on this modest debut) and then quickly slides into inconsistency. To my ears, ‘For You’ is a more frequently rewarding experience, one that showcases many of Prince’s strengths from the jump, blended in with the deliciously organic disco stylings of its era. “Just As Long As We’re ... read more
Neat, consistently surprising neo-psychedelic oddity from the early nineties. "Bury Me Happy" is a total jangle pop jam, and the album only gets more unpredictable from there. Quite nice!
