i feel like poppy is the best possible version of that internet artificial intelligence that became a nazi after like two weeks.
this album does a good job on expanding on the sounds started in Am I A Girl? and developed in Choke. there were a few moments where it felt too similar to those projects, but for the most part it is a unique experience. really looking forward to the future of poppy, especially now that titanic is gone.

When you consider the fact that Lili was getting modest traction from her other songs/ EP going into this record, it is pretty amazing that she A) didn't just load the album with tracks from 2 years ago like many bands would do, and B) it came out this well. Don't get me wrong, it isn't fine art or anything, it's a love album. But I sort of admire its knowledge of that, with all the pros and cons.

huge drop in quality. the whole thing feels so much emptier and corporate. the singing is almost all jordi also, which makes it feel a lot less like the group effort i liked it for before. only a couple tracks toward the end that are worth the time, but even those are sort of walking the line.

peters out a bit at the end but i actually found this more enjoyable and less reliant on "indie" stereotype sounds as the self titled

the minimalist appeal really starts to fade here. on their other albums the xx make that minimalism work to their advantage, and still have their personality to bring it to the forefront of your mind. on coexist it becomes background music. nice background music, yes. but thats not something i really look to when listening to an album.

glad i listened to it. somehow theres a ton of personality in its minimalism. do feel like there is a fairly big drop off after first 5 tracks.

feels a lot more polished to me, getting closer and closer to that border that is indie and pop. but they definitely still have their sound from the previous album, though it is a bit less inspired than that. altogether has some fun jams.

i can appreciate how different and out there a lot of deaton's tracks/ production is, but the reality is that this album felt like forever to get through, with so many useless and/or annoying songs. deaton is way over reliant on stuff that isn't his own whether it be features or literally just singing other songs. also whoever "korbin in orbit" is ruins a lot of songs on here. racecar is probably the only track on here that i would come back to.

Okay so I won't say I was surprised to see this pop up on here, but I was definitely surprised by the sheer length that is Trisha's Spotify page.
That being said, in combination with the whole "rebirth" meme, one would think this would at-least be of slight improvement from a 2014 Youtuber album, right?
Na. This is so bad it is kind of insane. I could produce this in Garageband, in fact- I wouldn't be surprised if whoever she paid to make the background music and write the lyrics just ... read more

this is probably the most impressive album vocally and instrumentally that i have heard this year, but in putting them together there are some faults. in going with the title, a maze of mirrors can produce beauty but also confusion. at any given second you can appreciate what is happening, but it unlikely that you have any idea where you are.

this is fun but it could have been a lot better if the lyrics were thought out a bit more.

reminds me of other post punk revival groups of this generation like drowners or catfish but i think they have some more staying power in their different-ness.
